Emergency Rail Rates
Eleven Southwest Texas counties
last week were granted emergency
freight rates on livestock feeds by
the Texas Railroad Commission.
The commission agreed to grant
emergency rates—two thirds of
normal rates—until March 31,
1939, In Dimmitt, Frio, Kinney, La-
Salle,’ Maverick, Terrell, Uvalde.
Val Verde Webb, Zapata and Za-
vala Counties The rates went into
effect on December 15.
The railroads opposed the grant-
ing of emergency rates, but both
shippers and rlalroads agreed that
the emergency rates should be lift-
ed if conditions improve suf-
ficiently in any of the counties.
