Mr. Payne was born in Cross Plains on September 14, 1922 to Pomp W. and Willie Long

made their home five miles west of Cross Plains.
During World War II he served in the Pacific with the Headquarters Co. 5223 Combat

over fifty years.
Although a rancher, he was very interested in agriculture and had served on agriculture
committees at Baird for over 33 years. He had also been a member of the First Baptist

chairman of the building committee which completed the addition of two Sunday School
wings.

granddaughter, Jodi; and one grandson, Ryan Glenn.
Mr. Payne requested that in lieu of flowers memorials be sent to West Texas Rehab, 4601
Hartford Street, Abilene, Texas 79605 or to the donor's favorite charity.
