NEWS FROM ST. MARY’S
CATHOLIC CHURCH
By Rev. C. J. Coreoran
Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7:30 P.M.
was the Solemn closing of the
Forty Hours, the public adoration,
ceremonies, and Prayers to the
Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
The Reverend M. F. Schafle, par-
ish priest, Borger, was celebrant;
the Very Reverend Andrew
Quante, Dean of the Catholic
Clergy, Pampa Deanery, - parish
priest, of St. Mary’s, Groom, was
master of ceremonies. The Rev-
erend Stanley Crocchiola, parish
priest of Canadian, vacted as Can-
tor. Other Catholic churchmen
attending were The Reverend J.
Arnold Carlson, secretary to the
Most Reverend Catholic Ordinary
of Amarillo, also parish priest of
Panhandle, and The Reverend
Daniel O'Sullivan, new Catholic
curate at St. John’s parish in Bor-
ger. The acting minor clerics
were: Acting Acolytes, Messrs.
Lynn Britten, James Homer,
James Conrad, and Herman Koet-
ting. Wayne Kotara was the
Cross Bearer.
The pupils at St. Mary’s Day
School have become members of
the Apostleship of Prayer, a pious
organization, whose object is to
give an apostolic character and
power to all our prayers, work
and sufferings. This object it at-
tains by the union of its members
with the unceasing pleading of
the Sacred Heart in the sacrifice
of the Mass; and this union is ef-
fected by the morning offering,
and the only essential duty of the
members. Sisters Xavier and M.
Angelitta, St. Mary’s Convent,
are promoters of the prayer
league.
The Very Reverend Andrew
Quante has been an out-patient
of Dr. John L. Witt. He will be a
medical patient for over a month
following a serious arm fracture,
therefore daily, Holy Mass will be
at 8:00 AJVL until further notice
except Saturday, 7:00 A.M.
Mrs. Sam Kotara attended the
National Convention of Catholic
Women, Amarillo Diocese, at Mid-
land, October 18 and 19. Mrs.
Kotara was St. Mary’s delegate.
