Horns are 1-2 for week
By RICHARD WARF
Sports Writer
TARKINGTON - The
Longhorns traveled to Lufkin
last Tuesday to play Hudson.
In an earlier contest Tark-
ington lost to the Hornets 97-92.
This time the Horns came out
on top 69-54.
The Longhorns led all the
way, out scoring Hudson 19-8 in
the first quarter. At halftime
Tarkington led 37-23. Keith
Limbrick led the scoring with 22
points. Billy Martin and Gary
Harvey each had 13. The Homs
shot 50 percent from the floor
while holding Hudson to 34 per-
cent.
Over the weekend the
Longhorns played in a tourna-
ment in New Caney. They
opened against the host team
and were defeated 86-61 by the
Eagles. In the second round
they were narrowly defeated by
Strake Jesuit 75-74.
“If we had played together in I
both games we would have
won,” Tarkington Coach Jim
Dixon said. “In the New Caney
game we were leading at half-
time and we couldn't keep them
from scoring. In the Jesuit game
we became a team in the sec-
ond half. We finally started to
play together like a team, but
time ran out before we could get |
even.”
The Horns' next game will be I
against Willis at home next I
Tuesday.
