Tire Inspection
To Be Held By
January 15ih
Owners of commercial motor
vehicles were reminded this week
that first tire inspections under
Certificates of War Necessity must
be made before January 15. N. F.
Nelson, Amarillo District Manager
for ODT’s division of motor trans-
port, urged that operators not
wait until the last minute for a
rush on approval tiro inspectors
but begin at once to get the in-
spections.
A commercial motor vehicle
may not lawfully be operated af-
ter January 15th without a Cer-
tificate of War Necessity and an
endorsement by an approved tire
inspector on the Certificate, Mr.
Nelson said. After the first in-
spection, vehicles must be pre-
sented for inspection every 60
days or every 5,000 miles, which-
ever occurs first.
Purpose of the periodic tire in-
spection is to insure proper tire
conservation. If an inspector
finds that a tire endorsement of
the Certificate of War Necessity
or record form covering opera-
tions of the vehicle until the re-
pairing has been done. If he
finds any mechanical condition
causing undue wear, he likewise
will recommend the necessary re-
pairs and will net sign the operat-
or’s certificate until they have
been made.

‘Long may our land be bright
With Freedom’s Holy Light”
Here in America we again celebrate Christmas in our
own American way . . . with freedom of speech, freedom
of religion, freedom of private enterprise.
The contrast of our privileges with the
restrictions imposed in much of the rest of
the world gives deep and great significance
to the words of our National hymn ." .
“Long may our land be bright,
With freedoms holy light.”
It is with this thought and spirit
that we wish you a . * Sj
