children in Atlantic City I experienced the adversity of inner city
childhood. After graduating high school, I had my first child and 0G new website is up and running:
decided that I wanted to do more with my life for myself and for my :
daughter, but I just didn't know exactly what. It wasn't until after ' www.womenmilitaryaviators.org
atnigmy brother's Air Force Basic Training Graduation that I ;,
realized the military was the life for me and I immediately signed up
for the Air Force. Instantly I knew that I wanted to be an aircraft
mechanic. My love for engines and working on cars made that choice
an easy one. Unfortunately the Air Force was not willing to guarantee
that job, so I was back to square one until my Aunt suggested that Iedrt f ne t
join the Coast Guard. After talking to the Recruiter I realized the
Coast Guard was exactly where I was supposed to be.
My first station after boot camp was Small Boat Station Annapolis
where I worked as a Fireman. Not giving up on my dream of
becoming an aircraft mechanic I put my name on the AMT "A" school rt
list as soon as I was eligible. While awaiting "A" school I became aw"HELPfrai
Boarding Team member and was boat crew qualified on the 41' Utility WANTED y n g e h
Boat (UTB), the 21' Rigid Hull Inflatable (RHI), and the 25' Response nm
Boat. I received my orders to the Airmen Program which I completed
at Air Station Atlantic City and where I discovered my love for the
HH-65 Dolphin helicopter. From that point on my goal was to become
an HH-65 Flight Mechanic (FM). After "A" school I reported back to
Atlantic City for a short time while awaiting transfer and immediatelya!C a y
started my HH-65 Basic Aircrew (BA) Syllabus.
