COMING INFORMATION.
Mr. |\>tt Itidgi*, the English nov-
elist, always has a fund of stories.
His latest tells of a mother who, en-
tering the nursery, observed her lit-
tle girl ghsorbtd in drawing some-
thing upon a piece of paper. She
was pleased at such evidence of in-
dustry and initiative, nnd said as
much. “And what are you drawing,
darling?" she asked.
“t.od,' was the brief reply.
“Oh, my dear child,” said the
shocked mother, “you can’t do that,
you know. No. one tins seen (lod;
we have no idea what lie looks like.”
“You’ll see when I’ve finished,”
said the little girl.

THE WEATHER-WISE SPIDER.
The spider’s web hung between
two fence rails. The insect suddenly
cut the ropes that held the web taut
and rolling il up like a carpet he
tucked it snugly under the Iowvr
rail.
“There’s a sign of rain that has
never been known to .fail,” the far-
mer said, looking up nY the blue sky.
“Whenever you see a spider take
down his web and tuck it away out
of reach of the storm you can be
sure bad weather's joining. Feel
that wet wind rising up now! [
guess I’ll get the hay »n.”
HIS ENDURANCE.
Flo was home from college and his
father looked him over critically.
“You’re pretty dern thin,” the old
man said. “Ate you feel in’ well?”
“I atn enjoying very excellent
iiealth, father," the young mun re-
plied.
“I want to know,” said the old
man as he continued his inspection.
“Pretty reasonably tougli, eh?”
“J am quite strong, 1 assure you,
father,” the young man replied..“I’m
really proud of tny endurance. Wrhy,
..anly think, father, I played golf once
for fully four minutes in quite a wet
shower, don’t you know.”

A nobleman war. once showing a
friend a rare collection of precious
stones which he had gathered at a
great expense and enormous amount
of labor. “And yet,” he said, “they
yield me no income.*”
His friend replied, “Come with
me and I will show you two stones
which cost me but five pounds each,
yet they; yield me a considerable in-
come.” He took the owner of the
gems to his grist-mill and pointed
to two gray millstones, which were
always busy grinding out grist.—
