March 28—Very dry here but we
are trying to remember our blessings
and be content.
A flourishing B. Y. P. U. has
been organized here.
Hugh Elliotts was the scene of
an Easter egg hunt which the
young folks enjoyed greatly. Miss
Nettie Elliott, the teacher, gave it
lor the pleasure of her pupils.
Mrs. Martha Nail also favored
the youngsters with an egg hunt.
Good stand of corn up and some
have planted cotton. Orchards in
in full bloom and fruit prospects
are good.

After wearing a long face for a
few days on accounc of the dry
weather we are now all smiles as
we have had one of the best raius
that ever fell.
W E Pipes of near Dublin visit-
ed here last week.
John Keahey, Irbin Watson and
Bob Bowers and sister all closed
their schools last week and are
now at home.
Misses Maggie Pipes of Dublin
and Dora Alford spent Thursday
with Mrs. C A Hunt.

spent Sunday with us.
Berry McGuire of Liberty was
in our city Monday.
Sunday was orphans home day
with our Sunday school. The con-
tribution was much larger;' we
wanted show our appreciation of

heard Rev. Emmett McLaughlin
preach a good sermon at Lingleville
Sunday.
G. F. Crank and wife visited
their son A. R. Crank and family

Miss Gertie Wharton visited
friends at Lingleville last week.
Corn is coming up to a good
stand. There is yet more to be
planted.
Peach trees well loaded with

full bloom.

April 4—Sterling Austin has
returned from the west. During
his mouths of absence he has been
in Mexico and other parts but still
claims that Erath is matchless.
Rev. Green filled Pastor Jack-
son’s place here Sunday and the
message was greatly appreciated.
The Baptists have arranged for
him to help in a meeting to begin
July 22.

over the fine rain that visited our
country the past week.
One ot W C Campbell’s little
children was taken seriously ill
last night.
Miss Beulah Cannon is visiting
friends and relatives on Green’s
Creek this week.
Mrs. W R Shelby is on the sick
list.
Quite a number of the Bunyan
folks are taking advantage of the
muddy weather by going to town
today.
Mr. W E Blu#ell of Oklahoma
spent a few days with his sister,
Mrs. W II Cook, during the past
week.

April 4.—Capt. E R Read has re-
t irned from a trip through South
Texas.
It is thought Dublin will raise
the bonus required to secure a new
railroad. The soliciting committee
composed of M C Witcher and
others report success, and think
they will soon raise the amount re-
quirejj.
The grocery stores have agreed
to close at 7:30 p.m. except on Sat-
urdays.
The oration of Dr. Goodner at
the grave of Jesse G Connor at Pe-
can Grove last Tuesday Is said to
have been an eloquent one.
R A Brite superintendent of the
Baptist Sunday school, reports an
offering of $86 made by the school
for Home and Foreign Mission.
W A Ashley of Anson was re-
newing acquaintance with old
friends here last week.

married by Rev. W R Allmon Sun-
day of last week.
Mrs.Ellen Bledsoe was the guest
of Mrs. W C Ready, while visiting
Thurber last week in the

Mrs. William Key of Batesvllle,

children is visiting her brother,

County Attorney Cox was here
last week on official business.

Henry Blackman at no. 9 shaft

to Fort Worth Wednesday by Dr.
Binney, to undergo an operation.
