Texas has been added to the list
of states operating under the 10-
case Purchase Program for eggs.
The support prices to the producer
under this progrum are us follows:
Orade A. Large. 36 cents; tirade B,
Large 33 cents; Orade C, Large, 79
cents. Mediums, 8 cents under
large.
These prices represent better than
90 percent parity. FDA Is now ready
to accept aspirations from eg"
dealers wishing to del ver graded
eggs at the above prices plus 4 cents
per dozen, or $120 |H*r 30 dozen
case handling charge. Only those
dealers who have adequate storage
space and can arrange for proper
grading, inspection, etc, can be ap-
proved by FDA.
FDA stands ready to pur, h iso any
eggs thut local buyers and contract-
ors cannot market through their
usual channels. Eggs will be accept-
ed in lots of not less than 10 case
at thr announced price plus hand-
ling charge, provided they meet the
specifications on the days of ram
on the tentative UJS. consumer
grade under which they were of-
fered. The grade is to be determ li-
ed by an authorized Federal-8tate
Inspector. FDA plans to take de-
livery of eggs within ten business
days after actual receipt of notice
that eggs have been inspected and
are ready for delivery to FDA. Ven-
dors, however, must take whatever
steps may be nece.saiy, including
refrigeration, to fully protect eggs
prior to delivery.
The 10-Case Egg Purchase Pro ■
gram has been set up under the
State Egg Committee. Membership
of th s committee is composed of
representatives of the State Depart-
ment of Agricultuie, the State AAA
Office, the State Extension Service,
the State War Board, the Poultry
Husbandry Department or A & M
College, and the Food Distribution
Admlnstration.

As the days in the planting season go
swiftly by, every farmer in the Cotton Belt
should think and ask himself these ques-
tions.
Am I planning my program to the best
advantage of the war elfort and myself?
Is thero enough cotton acreage to bol-
ar.co my grain and livestock production?
Will there be enough cottonseed meal
and 'calco for cattlemen and dairymen
who can’t raise their own cotton?
Is there enough cotton acreage lo main-
tain high production levels hi event of a
drouth?
Is land suited to cotton being allowed
to do its share in the FQOD AND FEED
PROGRAM of the Nation?
If the answer to these is obviously "no."
then GET IN BALANCE BY PLANTING
MORE ACREAGE TO COTTON.
