Early Tuesday morning, March
29, J. W. Gaither, about 67 years
old, hooked up his team to drive
out to the public road, a distance
ob about fifty yards. Mrs. Gaith-
er, who was attending to some
cows near by heard a concussion
and went to ascertain the cause of
the noise. She found Mr. Gaither’s
wagon had struck a sapling with
such force that he either fell out
or was pitched out of the wagon.
He was dead when she reached
him, the only sign of animation
being a few quiverings of the
mouth. It is supposed that when
he hit the ground he struck in
such a manner that the weight of
his body broke his neck.
Deceased was an old and highly
respected citizen of the Morgan
Mill community.
MISS ARTIE SAVAGE DEAD
Miss Artie Savage, daughter of
Tom Savage of near Rocky Point,
died at a Fort Worth sanitarium
Saturday, March 27, and was
buried at Allard cemetery.
She was injured at school while
at play, and a cancerous eruption
followed which necessitated the
.imputation of one of her legs.
Cox’s Easter
1 Afterward her lungs were affected,
land she was sent to a sanitarium
; for an operation but the organs
! wore so badly affected that the
surgeons regarded an operation
as likely not to afford relief. She
died while there.

ance, and Erath county growers
who attend will gain much use-
ful information concerning this
important and rapidly-growing in-
dustry. Improved methods of
growing the pecan has made it
possible to bring trees into bear-
ing while very small—from live
to six feet high, and it has also
been found that the trees succeed
on sandy upland, and, bear more
frequent crops on such lands th in
along low bottom lands where
frosts some times kill the blooms.
