Bride Of Mr. Lewis Olin Martin
Nuptial vows were exchanged
Friday night, June 28, by Kay
Carol Williams, daughter of Ju-
dge and Mrs. Clarence C. Willi-
ams and Lewis Olin Martin of
Panhandle, son of Mrs. L. T.
Martin of Dimmitt.
The Rev. James Carter, pastor
read the double-ring service, in
First Methodist Church.
Baskets of gladioli flanked an
arch of jade leaves, which cen-
tered the . altar. Candelabra
trimmed with daisies completed
the decor.
Mrs. Douglas Smith, organist,
accompanied Mrs. J. T. Broad-
way, who sang “If I could Tell
You,” “Ah, Sweet Mystery of
Life” and “Wedding Prayer”
The traditional wedding marches
were used, and “Indian Lot©
Call” was played during the cere-
mony.

Bill and Nelda Chappell, ne-
phew and niece of the bride-
groom, lighted the candles. Miss
Chappell wore a dress of white
organdy over white taffeta and a
wreath of daisies in her hair. Her
wristlet was of yellow daisies.
Mrs. Gary Cummings attended
her sister as matron-of-honor, and
bridesmaids were Miss Brenda
Williams, sister of the bride, Miss
Irene Detten, Miss. Margaret
Odom of Dimmitt and Mrs. James
Naylor of El Paso, Their dresses
were of white organdy over yel-
low taffeta, styled with scoop
necklines encircled with daisies
Daisy applique trimmed the
flared ballerina length skirts.
Their coronets were of white or-
gandy over yellow taffeta and had
tulle bouquets of white majestic
daisies.
As flower girl, Shelia Williams,
sister of the bride, wore a white
on white organdy frock and a
wreath of daisies in her hair. Her
bouquet was of shasta daisies.
Frank Martin of Monte Vista,
Colo., attended his brother as
best man. Groomsmen were Roger
Williams, brother of the bride,
Elmer Wilson of Pampa, Blair
Hankins of Amarillo and James-
Naylor of El Paso.
The bride, who was given in
marriage by her father, was at-
tired in a white over white gown
of embroidered Swiss organdy,
fashioned with short sleeves,
square neckline, a lace apron
over tirers of ruffled organdy and
bustle back. The skirt extended
into a chapel train. Her elbow
lenght gloves were of white or-
gandy and her veil of silk illusion
fell from a tira of lace and seed
pearls. She carried a white Bible
marked with a white orchid and
stephanotis.
Following the ceremony, a re-
ception honored the couple at the
War Memorial Building. Covered
with a cloth of yellow taffeta
with an overskirt of white organ-
dy, the table was centered with
a bouquet of white daisies flanked
by white tapers in crystal hold-
ers. Serving in the house party
were Miss Alma Howard of White
Deer, Mrs. Redus Holland of Nor-
man, Okla., Misses Judy Lemons
Barbara Barnes and Mary Cal-
vin of Amarillo, Miss Georgette
Rohan played background music.
After a trip to Colorado and
Yellowstone National Park, the
couple is to be at home July 15 in
Panhandle.
Mrs. Martin was graduaed
from Panhandle High School and
attended Wayland College, Plain-
view, where she was a member
of the Wayland Queens basket-
ball team. The bridegroom was
graduated from Dimmitt High
School and received his bachelor
and master’s degrees from Texas
Technological College, Lubbock,
where he lettered in basketball.
He coached at Fritch before mov-
ing to Panhandle, where he has
taught for two years.

Club Plans Picnic
The Skellytown Home Demon-
stration Club held its last meet-
ing until August, June 21 in the
Skelly-Schafer Club house, with;
Mrs. G. E. Huckins, as hostess.
Mrs. W. S. Berry, presided at
the . business meeting in which
plans jvere made for the annual
picnic, July 19.
For the afternoon’s program,
Mrs. Hugh Ware gave a demon-
stration on pattern fitting.
Attending were Mesdames E. E.
Crawford, Wedge, Berry, Wall,
Elizabeth Tinsley, R. C. Heaton
and two children.
Mrs. Luther Devin has returned
home from Highland General Hos-
pital, Pampa, where she- has been
a surgical patient.

Frienship Circle club members
met June 24 in the home of Mrs.
J. B. Howe for a demonstration
on pattern fitting, given by Mrs.
L. B. Weatherly.
The meeting opened with a de-
votional given by Mrs. Howe.
Following the demonstration,
Mrs. Howe showed pictures, she
had taken in the Pacific North-
west.
During a social hour refresh-
ments were served to guests, Mrs.
Robert Cox, J. F. Weatherly,
Misses Bonita Fox, Sue and De-
lores Satterfield, and members
Mesdames George Milton, M. E.
Cox, T. B. • Fox, L. H. Skaggs,
Weatherly, S. H. Kammer'er, J. V.

The next meeting of the club

Man To Be Married
Mr. and Mrs. Michael A. Schlitz
of Ponca City, Okla., are annou-
ning the engagement and ap-
proaching marriage of their
daughter, Mary Catharine, to
Richard L. Detten, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Detten, south of
Amarillo, formerly of Panhandle
The wedding is to take place on
Aug. 10 in St. Mary’s Church at
Ponca City.

ing Mrs. Jim Weatherly in the
home of Mrs. L. B. Weatherly.

Hillcrest, Amarillo, are the parents
of a daughter, Sharia Rae, weigh-
ing 7 pounds, 5 ounces, born June
27 in St. Anthony’s Hospital. Mrs.
Wright, is the former Betty Sue
Milton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Earl Milton, Panhandle. Mrs. Ruby
Wright of Fritch is the paternal
grandmother. Great-grandparents
are George Milton and Mrs. Louise
Howell, both of Pannandle.
Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Kaufhold,
Boise City, Okla., are announcing
the birth of a son, Lowell Lee,
born June 20. Young Lowell Lee
weighed in at 8 pounds and 2 ounc-
es. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
C. O. Hinshaw.
4-H COUNCIL VOTES
TO I^AVE FAIR BOOTH
The Carson County Joint Boys
and Girls’ 4-H Council met July
1 in the office of the home de-
monstration agent, Mrs. Janie
Fletcher.
The members voted to have a
booth at the Carson County Fair,
Sept. 6 and 7, in which they will
serve coffee, doughnuts, cupcakes,
pop, snow cones and candy.
Plans were made for a 4-H
party later in the summer.
