Mrs. M. W. Campbell of Huck-

Alabama, to visit her mother and
other relatives. Mrs. Campbell
has just recently recovered from
the effects of an accident which
came near ending her life. On
July 2 while engaged in milking
her cow, one of the gentlest of
animals, something evidently
stung the cow and she suddenly
reared up in the air in backing
from under the shed tad one of

strata Mrs. Campbell on the left
side of the head tearing the ear
off until it hung by amove thread
at the bottom, also leering a
place in the temple which ex
posed the scull It wee et first
feared the injuries would prove
fatal but now after six weeks
Dr. MQfgroves not only has his
patient on her feet again, but
the lacerated ear which required
28 stitches has healed up nicely.
Druggist Campbell will be lone-
some a few weeks now, but he is
indeed thankful that it ie not the

Honors for Henry Thornton
1 1 ■ iff ’
Henry CV Thornton, district
clerk, was one of several popular
candidates for re-election who
had no opponent and the fact
that Mr. Thornton received more
votes than any of them has caus-
ed that modest and efficient offi
cer to receive uumerous congrat-
ulations. It certainly is som
thing to feel proud of to be the
leading man on a ticket contain-
ing the names of so many other
good men, and Henry duly ap-
preciates the honor.
Mr. Thornton received 3551
votes; Henry Clark 3537; Dave
Deaton 3516; Tom Stinnett 3543;
McKewn Johnstone 8619.

Rev. U. J. Morton reports
having had good success in his
meeting at Coring where “peni-
tents were gloriously and happily
converted and added > to the
church.** Mr. Morten says the
meeting was a great blessing to
him ana that those good Corin-
thians handed him substantial
tokens of their appreciation in
dollars and cents. He concludes
his report with these words; “I
love them. The Lord continue to
bless them.” Mr, Morton left
for his home at DeLeon Monday.
