action. Interested parents helped give us background music, were
models or served in many ways. The dress rehearsal tas the first
chance to get it all together - & we were, rot sure it wasn't 9
disaster. The right it was presented the work of these teenagrs
was showr: to a packed house of friends S family --their heritage
& they were proud of it. They sang, joked, danced, paraded & led
the audience to a finish that was anr original song written ard
played by a Junior student entitled, In The Beginning." This,
too, was accompanied by slides & developed the idea that man has
come a long ways & through many histories - but, with great
challenges ahead. The program erded! 1 ot a fiasco - but a
beautiful, exciting evening that youth's value of history was
allowed to show.
Many times -an appreciation has beer developed between the
generations. A direct quote from a teenager ii the early 1970's
is, "You smow, no one really ever stops to think that old people
want to be heard from. Just the idea of havir: to tell their
story seemed to set my grandparents or a grard adventure. It
makes me feel proud to be a part of ar area in which there are
so many interesting stories behind each irdividual fail l - I'm
proud of my grandparents."
