This team of Lipizzaner horses driven by Charlton
Heston in the "Ben Hur" movie is one of two
four-horse teams from the epochal film that
will race in each performance of the Fort Worth
Stock Show Rodeo, January 27-February 5.
Through the skilled training and handling of
the horses Glenn Randall and his son re-enact
the famous race, including the spectacular
chariot crash, as they did when making the
the movie.

TIME FOR PORK: Pork, in one
of its many forms, is eaten the
year round, but the heaviest con-
sumption is usually in the winter
months.
Lean pork, like other lean meats,
provides high quality protein as
well as iron and niacin. Louise
Mason, Extension Foods & Nutri-
tien Specialist of A&M College,
says pork is especially important
for its vitamin B and thiamine
content.
Fresh pork must be thoroughly
cooked to be safe for eating. It is
well cooked when the color has
changed from pink to grayish
white.
serve these marinated Roast Beef
Slices. They’re excellent teamed
with your favorite Hot potato
salad.
Slice one pound of cooked roast
beef in 1/8 inch slices. Mix to-
gether Vi cup vinegar, two table-
spoons salad oil, % teaspoon pep-
per, XA teaspoon dry mustard,
teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon Wor-
cestershire sauce, four teaspoons
sugar and one medium onion slic-
ed, thinly. Marinate the beef slices
in the mixture in the refrigerator
three hours and serve.
Marinated Roast Beef Slices.
Leftovers can be a delightful treat
and here is a recipe to prove it!
If you have extra roast beef left
from your New Year’s dinner,
Mrs. Charles Russ is convalesc-
ing at home from a cut above the
ankle on her right leg, which she
suffered Jan. 8, when broken glass
was being removed from a door
and a piece bounced on the floor
and struck her. She is on crutches

Conservation work is going at
full speed as weather conditions
here have been unusually good.
The past week Charls Dowd of
Skellytown completed a stock
water pond and a division terrace.
Harold O’Neal of Panhandle com-
pleted a terrace and Floyd Hetc-
hum of Conway is constructing a
diversion.
More interest is being shown in
the Great Plains Conservation Pro-
gram. Farm and ranch conserva-
tion planning is now being done on
the J. H. Wigham, A. T. Britten,
Virgil Moore and H. T. Dickens
farms for the Great Plains Con-
servation Program.
Soil and water conservation plans
were revised on the John Krizan,
Joe Britten, E. O. Eaton and Lad-
die Katara farms. The Soil Con-
servation Service received six ap-
plications for irrigation pipeline
for ASC cost share assistance and
has designed or checked the de-
signs of four irrigation pipelines
this week.
