Designing Loft Tour 2000
M ark your calendar now to help plan and attend Loft Tour 2000. Preservation Dallas is pleased to
announce that the fourth annual Loft Tour is scheduled for Saturday, May 6, 2000. The loft tour is
Preservation Dallas' main fundraiser and has drawn some 1,500 participants from all over the Dallas metroplex
to view adaptive loft uses for older and historic buildings in downtown Dallas. This much-anticipated event,
being chaired by Preservation Dallas board members Ann Allison and Helen Johnson, is being designed to
have a wider variety of loft types and loft furnishings than in previous tours.

upcoming tour. Event organizers are
working to secure the participation of
designer showrooms and major home furnishings retailers. This
will allow attendees the opportunity to view the creative work of
some of Dallas' top designers.
In addition, the site selection committee has broadened the 2000
tour to include more private lofts. There will also be an interesting
mix of lofts that are available for lease or for sale. More than 15,000
people are now living in the downtown area. There are now 10,000
apartment or loft units in the downtown area and 3,600 more
reported to be under construction as of September 30. "Because of
