"Old Parkland Hospital"
3918 Maple Avenue at Oak Lawn
The historic "Old Parkland Hospital" is our
destination in May. The 188,000 sf hospital was
built in 1913 and designed by architects Hubbell
and Greene and has served as a general hospi-
tal, psychiatric institution, a jail, and a makeshift
homeless shelter It is built in a Classical
Revival style with Georgian influences. It was
designated as a Dallas landmark in 1987"Old Parkland Hospital"
The "Old Parkland Hospital" was renamed
Woodlawn and treated patience with tuberculosis, psychiatric problems and other chronic
diseases when Parkland Memorial Hospital on Harry Hines Blvd was opened in 1954.he "Old Parkland Hospital" has been unused for several years.
