This month we obsefve the first peacetime Thanks*
Riving Day since 1941. We can be thankful for vic-
tory ; for unbombed cities; for our unequalled stand-
ard of living. But Thanksgiving goes deeper than
that. Remember, many American lives have been _
lost so that the American way of life can RVe on. It’s
been that way since the first Thanksgivng back in
1621. Thanksgiving is a symbol not of tire material
things we possess, but of American courage, determin-
ation, and love of freedom. THose are the things for
which we should be thankful.
