Howard Payne has received the
highest aocrediatlon possible" for
southern college. It Is accredited
by the Association of Texas Col-
leges; ths American Association of
Colleges: the Southern Association
of Colleges and Secondary Schools
the Southern Baptists Educational
Association: the Texas Association
of Music Schools, and Use Collage
Music Association.
The college has the highest per
Mte endowment of any co-edu-
orial' Baptist college In the
state and has the third highest
enrollment of any co-educational
Baptist college In the state. Dr.
Brian stated.
The college library has a total
of 28,000 volumes and approxl-
— mately 1,500 voulmes are added
each year. Ths new Walker Me-
morllal Library, being constructed
at a cost of $300,000, will be fin-1
iahed about June, he said.
- The third floor of the new
building has been set aside for
the graduate school.

Mrs. Smith, who was Marthh
Senen before her marriage, was
born January 4. 1871. Xn 1883
she was married in Denton Coun-
ty to Charlie A, Smith. To this
union fourteen children were
born. Mr. Smith and nine child-
ren) preceded Mrs. Smith In
death. Two sons, P. K. Smith of
Proctor and*D. E. Smith of Hloo,
and three daughters, Maggie
Shelton of Throckmorton, Texie
Poster of Robstown and Ca>Tee
Snovaly of Sacramento, Calif.,
survive. Mrs. Smith is also sur-
vived by eleven grandchildren
and five great-grandchildren. ■
