ENGAGEMENT IS ANNOUNCED - Mr and Mrs. Robert
DeLaney of Lamkin have announced the engagement of
their daughter, Bobbie Gayk\ to Thomas Whelan, III, son
of Mr.' and Mrs. Thomas Whelan, Jr. of Houston. The
bride-elect received her Bachelor of Science degree in
Home Economics from Southwest Texas State College in
1966. While attending Southwest Texas State College she
served as Historian of Angel Flight, Vice-President of Kappa
Lambda Kappa and on the Panhellenic Council. She is a
member of Delta Zeta Sorority. At present, Miss DeLaney
is teaching Homemaking at Aransas [ County High School
in Rockport. Mr. Whelan received his Bachelor of Arts
degree from Austin College in 1966. He served as defensive
field-captain of the 15f65 Austin football team, captain of
the tennis team and president of the association for letter*
men 1965-66. Mr. Whelan was awarded the Pete Cawthon
Trophy for the outstanding all-around athlete of 1965-66.
He is a member of Phi 'Sigma Aloha and is now working
towards his Master’s degree In Chemistry at the University
of Texas. The wedding will be June 8 at the Methodiil
Church in Lamkin:
