is given one certain job to do—and is

HOMESICK GIRL HIKES
ALL WAY FROM DENTON
TO SEE HER MOTHER
Fort Worth, March 28.—It is
strange to what lengths acute home-
sickness will drive a susceptible per-
son. Only a few days ago, Lenore
Guest, an 18-year-old girl, walked the
entire distance from Denton to Fort
Worth, because she “just couldn’t wait
another day to see her mother,” who
Jives in Eastland.
The girl was employed in a hotel
at Pilot Point until a few days ago.
Impulsively, one day she left with
only enough money in her purse to pay
the fare to Denton. From, Denton she
struck out on foot and walked every
step of the way from there to Fort
Worth. She walked into the Texas &
Pacific station' entirely exhausted,
where Mrs. Wright, the travelers’ aid,
attended her. Mrs. Wright says that
the girl’s feet were masses of blisters
and that she was almost in a fainting
condition from the effects of the long
walk.
A collection was taken up among
the travelers and the employes at the
station, and as soon as the girl had
been sufficiently rested, she was given
a ticket to her destination.
