We have just received a large shipment of refrigerators and ice boxe vhich we
are showing in our windows and would be glad to have our many customers : come
in, price and examine our line. We have not the gall and have too much regard for
the truth to say that we have the best refrigerator in the world, but we have one
« #«
among the best refrigerators for the money sold in .theState. It’s a fact that all the mem'
bers of the Goodman-Floyd Furniture Company use the GURNEY refrigerators not be-
cause they are better than other metal linedrefrigerators but because we can get tfreimat
wholesale prices and hence come cheaper/ When up^north in one of the largest factories
we asked the foreman why he lined his/refrigerators rnqlh metal and his answer was be-
cause by test it had been proven the best. He /also said that the reason the U. S. Gov-
ernment lined all their refrigerators in/thpirMarge vessels w&s from the fact that experts had
found that it was best in all cases t^Mhave tnfern^ lined witfi some kind of metal. He claim-
ed that wood lined refrigerators w(|md swea\as quickly as metal but the fact that wood
would take up the dampness it was n^s©~@a^ly detected, but that when it took up the
dampness into its pores it would also jfake up the odor and what impurities there -was
from the different kinds of vegetables, meats and fruits and Would give it back from tirhe
to time and would prove unsanitary. The circulation in the Gurney Refrigerator is so per-
fect that a box of matches left in one indefinitely will strike as quickly as if left in the box
which it was shipped in. We asked a tinner recently why he went to the extra expense
of lining all the ice b oxes that weer made in lewn and he said, because the people want them lined and then we asked him why the people all wanted them lined and
he said because common sense and past experience has taught them that it was best
The enamel on the Gurney Refrigerators is baked on them by placing them in a hot furnace and in this way kills the odor that would naturally be in any re-
frigerator without this. If the Gurney was wood lined they cculd not bake the enamel on them in a red hot furnace and hence the odor in a wood ‘lined refrigerator.
Our refrigerators are as badly abused by use as our competitors, but we are not going to use a whole column answering and explaining away complaints of swelling,
warping and stinking, for we have no such complaints and when you buy a “sure enough*’ refrigerator, whether from us or our competitors you will have no such com-
plaint to make. Vegetables will be no fresher, milk no sweeter and fruit more juicy in our refrigerators than in any other metal lined refrigerator but will keep as well.
We have large and small refrigerators and ice boxes. We have new and second hand refrigerators and Ice Boxes I with top doors to the ice box or front doorsl
So come and let us trade for your refrigerator if it is too large or too small. Our prices are among the cheapest, our refrigerators are among the best, our terms easy.
