Both cars were traveling
north toward Kermit with the
Griffin vehicle leading, Stout
saieP The accident occurred,
the officer said, when Griffin
apparently slowed his machine
and started to pull off the
road.
As Griffin pulled partially
off, Griffis attempted to go
around him, and when pulling
hack from the middle of the
road to avoid striking an on-
coming car, his right front
fender struck the left rear fen-
der of the other car.
Both men were treated at
Winkler County Memorial Hos-
pital and later released.
Christmas Eve a communion
service from 7-10 p.m. will
start holiday religious observ-
ances at Trinity Christian
Church, according to Rev. J.
Ray McCawley.
“There will be no Sunday
School Christmas Day,” he
said. ‘‘The morning service,
which will include a half-hour
caroling program, will start at
10:30 a.m. A fellowship dinner
and children’s Christmas Tree
party will be held at 5:30 p.m.
instead of the usual evening
service.”
Grace Temple Baptist Church
Chest $12,461 Short
Gifts and pledges to Winkler
County Community Chest Tues-
day afternoon stood at $8,283.53
which is $12,461 from the cam-
paign goal of $20,754, according
to a report from Mrs. S. B.
Christian, Chest secretary. The
total includes gifts from both
and Kermit.

changed gifts,” the preacher
said. “This year we decided
instead of exchanging gifts to
send them to the Goodland In-
dian Orphanage at Hugo, Okla-

“We will have our regular
worship routine Christmas
Day,” Guy Southern, pastor of
the Eastside Church of Christ
said. Regular hours include
Bible class at 10 a.m., wor-
ship at 10:50 a.m. and evening
service at 6:30 p.m.
Bethel Temple
A Christmas program is
planned at Bethel Temple As-
sembly of God Church Wednes-
day, Dec, 21, at 7 p.m., ac-
cording to Rev. Roy F. George.
The Sunday School will present
the program.
“We will not change our wor-
ship hours on Christmas Day,”
Rev. Mr. George said. “They
will remain the same — Sun-
day School at 9:45 a.m., wor-
ship at 11 a.m. and evening
service at 7:30 p.m.”
First Christian Church
Christmas program at First
Christian Church is scheduled
for Wednesday, Dec. 21 at 7:30
p.m., according to Rev. Larry
Barnes. Christmas Day ser-
vices will remain as normal,
he said. Sunday School is held
at 9:45 a.m., worship at 10:50
a.m. and evening service is at
7:30 p.m.
Parkview Church of Christ
Gaither Vanderveer, pastor
of Parkview Church of Christ,
announced no special program
is planned and services are
scheduled for regular hours
They include Bible class at 10
a.m., worship at 10:50 and eve-
ning worship at 7 p.m.
First Methodist Church
Rev. Carl Lawson, pastor of
First Methodist Church, indi
cated a family Christmas carol
program will be held at 9:45
a.m., Christmas Day, but other
services will remain the same
as usual. Morning worship is
at 10:55 a.m. and evening Com-
munion service at 7:30 p.m
Sunday, Dec. 18, the Chan-
cel Choir will present a Christ-
mas Cantata, The Story of
Christmas, Rev. Mr. Lawson
reported. Program will be at
7:30 p.m.
Church of the Nazarene
At the Church of the Naz-
arene, Rev. A. B. Scudday re
ported there will be no evening
worship on Christmas Day but
other services will be held as
usual. Sunday School is held
at 9:45 a.m. and worship is at
11 a.m.
