We desire u> call the attention
to many of our subscriben that
their subscription is due. and
that we need the money. We
have carried you through the
summer and sent you the paper
when you had no money, and we
knew you had none. WA have
had to borrow money and pay
interest on same in order to send
you the pajier. Our debts are
now coming due and we need the
money you owe us. We ask our
readers to come in and pay up at
once, and if you can't come,
send it to us. Many have given
that npthing has been slighted
or neglected that waa necessary
to get up a flay-House in Car-
thage that any city would be
proud of. \
But the opera house and scene-
ry are not all of the show busi-
ness. The person who has noth-
ing to do but pay the small ad-
mission fee, and sita in front of
the stage to watch the curtain
rise and the different acts go on.
doesn’t know what an effort it
has coat somebody to prepare
these acta and do other things
necessary to make a show that
is presentable to an audience.
It is not so easy as one would
think to get a good show for a
town the aize of ours. Upon this
point the writer ventures to say
house-
wife throws bar frying pan out
of the window she makes her
family half way immune against
consumption. The day she clears
away all the gewgaws from their
living rooms and opens those
rooms to fresh air and sunlight,
she makes her fdtnily immune
the rest of the way. That’s all
there ia to this fight op tubercu-
losis-nutrition and hygene.
If we can got our people to
eat good food and live sane lives
we shall be rid of the wont
plague that has ever afflicted
humanity. I would be a won-
derfully happy man this after-
noon if I thought I could make
that truth plain to all the read-
ers of the Watchman. I believe
good health ia the way eveij that
one should use him or herself.
I have good health and I do not
eat fried iheata.
