erta upon ninny subject* affecting

Stale, as we conceived, but nt the
same time, wc have never failed to
give him credit for his sets where
we thought be merited praise or
commendattoo, and notwithstand-
ing he may make mistakes, for It
Is human to err, it cannot be doubt-
ed that ha Is honest in what he
dees, and that he has the bal In

It la now our pleasure to com-
mend him for using his influence
with the Legislature to prevent an
adjournment uutil the neccwmtry
legislation had been acted upon,
thereby relieving him of th* neces-
sity ef calling an extra session of
the Legislature at a heavy expon-c
te the Htate, and Hie legislature is
entitled to eredlt tor no promptly
heeding his wholesome advice. In
this matter the Governor lias shewn
himself to be the enselflsh friend of
the people and an advocate of econ-
omy.
In hia message to the Legislature
on this subject the Governor said :
"I respectfully suggest tbe fol-
