RAILROAD WEEK
“No industry in recent years has
shown such progressiveness and cour-
age as our Western Railroads,” said
Mr. Chas. Wachendorfer, president of
the Chamber of Commerce, in com-
menting on proclamations issued by
the governor and mayor establish-
ing the period of June 10 to 15 as
Railroad Week. Mr. Wachendorfer
continued: “The railroads have be-
come so much of a habit in our lives
that we just take their service per-
haps as a matter of course.” “The
Western Railroads are really setting
the pace these days showing the way
back to economic recovery. Take this
$19,000,000 investment in air-condi-
tioning equipment for their principal
trains for instance; thousands have
been kept busy since the beginning
of the fall in plants and shops. Thou-
sands more will be employed servicing
these comfort accessories of travel.
‘Railroad Week’ will be observed with
a public meeting in Lampasas on
June 11, at 8 p. m., in the high school
auditorium, at which time prominent
railroad officials will address our citi-
zens. The Chamber of Commerce de-
sires that Lampasas citizens attend
this meeting thereby showing their
appreciations to the railroads serving
their community.”
Chas. Wachendorfer, president,
Chamber of Commerce.
