THE GAZETTE FT TVOETH TEXAS THURSDAY SEPTEMBEE 3
agent of the Sauta Fe reports quito a num-
ber of parties in tho state looking for feed-
ers He expects a good move of cattle over
his road to the feeding crounds pretty soon
Cornfed cattle have not been scarcer in
Years savs the Drovers Journal Chicago
than at present Tho grass has been so
good in many localities that the cattle have
done almost as well as they would have done
with somo corn Even where this has not
been the case fanners have been unwilling
to put much corn into cattle considering
the prices of grain and beef and where
corn feeding has been done the feeders havo
dolod it out sparingly In portions of Illin-
ois especially in the southern counties
some feeders have been cutting up new
corn and feeding to cattle on the stalks and
the indications are that feed lots will be
busy as socn as the new crop becomes
Col R E Maddox left last night for Kan-
sas City to be gone several days Ho states
that he is getting his rino horses at Mad
doxia park in fine shape for the fairs this
fall and winter and expects to take in a
good share of the purses CoL Iaddoi
took occasion to state in this connection
that Fort Worth needed a fair and exhibit
of livestock about as much as it was possi-
ble to need anything as there were more
fine horses around Fort Worth and in the
county than could bo fouud in any other
town and county in the state
