Liberal extracts from the
speech of Judge Al/m, republi-
can/appear on arjfoiaer page of
this issue. The repu blicans will
regard it as good doctrine, and
the democrats may make it good
food for thought. At any rate it
is worth reading, and this notice
is only to call it to your attention.
A. J. Perry, who lives on the
Hairton ranch, some ten miles
north of Lampasas, was here
Saturday with his double team
and his double wagon, which he
call the lightning express. He
has about 160 sheep and is mak-
ing proper preparations to care
for them during the winter by
saving all the cotton seed from
the farm and all other things
that will make good feed for the
stock. One of these days Mr.
Perry will own a home of his own
in this section, for he knows how
to make and how to save.
FOR SALE—Good horses,
pair or single drivers. See
Walter McCauley & Co.
Frank Richardson, of the
Adamsville section, was among
the visitors here Saturday. He
is the democratic nominee of that
precinct for the offices of county
commissioner and justice of the
peace, and says if he is elected
he will do his beat to serve the
interests of the people, regardless
of political affiliation. He served
twice as commissioner.
W. W. Wootten, who has made
his home some miles south of
this place for the past four years,
is about moving to Runnels
county, where he has purchased
land, and where he will make his
home in the future. He 'has no
fault to find with Lampasas' or
Burnet counties; but joined with
the general rush to that western
country. It surely ♦ speaks- well
for this country when people can 1
come here from the old states
and make a sufficient quantity of
cash in four years timef to go to
another country where lands are
high and buy a home. It also
speaks well for the management
of the people who do this. Mr.
Wootten will make a success any
where he may go.
C. C. White and family have
gone to Roswell, New Mexico
where they will make their home
in the future, having sold their
interests at this place. Mr.
White came here from the south-
ern part of the state some three
or four years ago, and has pros-
pered with the country. He and
all his family have worked dili-
gently, he with his farm, and his
wife and children with the dairy,
and its products as well as some
fowls, and they go to the new
country in the west with funds to
buy a home and make themselves
comfortable. The Leader regrets
to see them go, but the paper
will follow them to their new
home.

Schwarz & Hoffmann
The old proverb of “the blind
leading the blind” has been often
heard but a practical example of
this is rarely seen. At the Santa
Fe depot Monday afternoon, two
blind men got off, and proceeded
down the station platform to a
hotel, one leading the other.
One of the blind men seemed to
have the faculty of guiding him-
self by use of a cane, and he
was leading, the other blind man
clinging to his arm. They car-
ried musical instruments and ap-
parently make a living in this
manner. The sight created con-
siderable comment from by-
standers.
