Sheriff Lake's Quarterly Report
It is hard to believe that another year has almost
past. Here we are coming up on the Christmas
season once again. The Christmas season is meant
to be a happy time, spent in celebration of the
birth of Jesus. Unfortunately, the criminal element
uses this time of the year to prey on unsuspecting
families, seeking to quench the spirit of Christmas
by means of thefts and burglaries.
Please use extra caution during the holidays
by securing your valuables, especially valuables
left unattencled in your vehicles. Criminals are
lurking around every corner, watching vehicles
unattended in shopping center parking lots, look-
ing for anything they can hnd to take. Shopping
bags, wrapped gifts, or anything of value in plain
view is a target to thieves.
Secure your homes as securely as possible.
If your home is equipped with a home security
system, activate it every time your leave. Make
sure all doors and windows are locked and secured
while away from home. Install good lighting
around the perimeter of your home. Lighting is a
great deterrent to thieves. A combination of dusk to
dawn lighting as well as motion activated lighting
is a great choice. Timer activated lighting, both
indoors, as well as outdoors, is also a good idea.
If you have close neighbors, let them know when
you’re going to be away for an extended period
of time, stop mail and other deliveries, ana leave
every appearance possible that you are at home.
I also encourage you to check on members of
the senior generation of our county. Let’s all take
the opportunity to make sure our seniors have
adequate heating, shelter and food through this
winter season. It also wouldn’t hurt anything to
stop by just to say “Merry Christmas” or send a
Christmas card to let them know we are thinking
about them during this time of year.
I pray that the Christmas season is a time of
joy for you and your family. Through all of the
shopping hustle and bustle, with all of the com-
mercialized holiday frenzy, remember to keep the
real meaning for the season in your Christmas
celebration. Jesus is the reason for the season!
May God bless everyone and from my family
to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
