This week we follow the travels of Jacob as he leaves
Gilead and heads for his homeland, the land of Canaan.
As he traveled he came upon a group of angels and
he stopped and made a camp and he called the place
Mahaniam (meaning two bands, Jacob’s band and the
Lord’s band).
Jacob sent forth messengers to look for Esau and
they returned telling him that Esau was indeed com-
ing and that he had 400 men with him. Jacob was very
much frightened as he thought that Esau was still angry
after 20 years and intended to kill him. VS 7 (Jacob was
greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people
that were with him,”
Jacob prays reverently to the Lord calling on the
Lord to remember the promises He had made to Jacob
before he left Haran, begging for deliverance from his
brother Esau.
Jacob selects many animals and divides them into 3
groups and sends them ahead in waves as offerings to
Esau, hoping that the bribes will find him favor in the
eyes of Esau.
This is all for naught as Esau had forgiven Jacob years
ago and when he does arrive he hugs and kisses Jacob
and is very happy to see him.
Don’t we all at times worry about nonexistent prob-
lems, just as Jacob did? Man will never learn I don’t
suppose.
After sending everyone ahead Jacob is alone for the
night and a Man comes and wrestles with him, all night.
At daybreak the Man touches Jacob’s hip and it disjoints.
The Man asks Jacob ‘let Me go” but Jacob refuses until
the Man blesses him.
The Man blessed him and changed his name to Israel
which means “strives with God” and Jacob or Israel
knows he has wrestled with God and has survived. VS
30 “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is
preserved.” Jacob names this place; Penuel or “the face
of God”. Jacob limped on that hip for the rest of his life
and the Jewish people will not eat the meat of the shank
that shrinks away from the joint because that is where
God touched Jacob.
(Hosea 12:2-4) will give deeper insight into this
matter.
Now Esau and Israel separated with Esau going back
to Seir while Israel finally settled in Shechem in Canaan
which is fairly close to his home land, there he bought a
parcel of land from the children of Ham or, the father of
Shechem for 100 pieces of money.
There also he built an alter and called it El Elohe Is-
rael which means in Hebrew; “God, the God of Israel”.
Israel or Jacob made this name of God representing “his”
God, the God of Israel, the man. He was saying by this
name that this God, a new sense of El obim ‘The Eternal
Creator” as the God through whom he alone would walk
according to his new name “Israel”.

Why is Grace SO Amazing?
A man I know had gotten ill and ended up in the hos-
pital. After many tests, several days in the hospital, and
cardiac stents he was handed a very large bill. He was
faced with the dilemma that many people have today
of not being able to pay the bill in full. He worked with
the hospital on a payment plan and began to try and
make payments, but as bills
mounted and everyday life
expenses took their toll on
his monthly income, he found
himself in financial trouble.
He had run out of options and
money. So he swallowed his
pride, mustered his courage
and went back to the hospital
to ask them his balance and
if they could renegotiate his
payments. He was met by a
pleasant young lady who was
quick to tell him his balance
was over $40,000. She told
him that before she could
talk to him about lowering
his payment she would have
to talk with her supervisor
He noticed she walked over
to the desk of a woman who
had looked to be watching and listening to their conversa-
tion. They seemed to be discussing things when the lady
got up from her desk and walked over to where he was
standing. She looked over his previous payments looked
up at him and said, "I see that you have been faithful to

pay on time each month even though the amount is too
small to impact the balance." He agreed with her, but told
her that he was there to see if he could get his payments
lowered. She didn't respond but went back to her desk,
did some calculations, came back and said,"Sir, your debt
has been forgiven. You no longer owe us any money."
Needless to say he was ecstatic! He had experienced
amazing grace.
You see grace is when
you get something that you
don't deserve, and you had
to do nothing to get it, ex-
cept receive it. Gods grace is
amazing because it is given
to us irregardless of how bad
or good we have been. There
is nothing that you can do
or not do, to make God love
you more. Jesus died for all.
He loves you and extends his
grace to you because of his
unconditional love for you.
"For by grace you are saved
through faith, and this is not
from yourselves, it is God's
gift—Not from works so that
no one can boast."(Ephesians
2: 8-9) You can't earn grace.
It is a free gift, and what an amazing gift it is! Living
forever with Jesus in heaven. That is why grace is so
amazing. Recieve it, accept it, live in it, and experience
the abundant love and joy of the Lord.
I'm just sayin’

Summer is about over and Fall is upon us. This
year has gone by so fast, only four more months until
Christmas. Imagine that!! Seems like the older you get
the faster it goes.
We were saddened by the passing of one of our
members this past week. Dan Wagstaff was put to rest
Saturday. His funeral was held at Ramah by Bro. Keith
and Bro. James Hall. I've been knowing Dan and his
family a long time. You can't find better people than the
Wagstaff family.
Our birthday person this week was Braylee Strahan. I
hear she turned five. Our anniversary couples were: Harry
and Marie Perry and Robert and Judy Agnew.
We added these to our prayer list: Debbie Blackshear,
Dan Wagstaff Family, Glen Prince, Gerald Goings Family
and Jodi Pena. We have some in our church that need spe-
cial prayer, they are Ann Lampley and Marie Perry and
Robert Agnew. Also, Jodi Pena had emergency surgery
Sunday. Her appendix was removed. Please remember
these people when you pray.
Bro Keith took his message Sunday morning from
John 10:9. "I am the door: by Me if any man enter in, he
shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."
He doesn’t give us all our wants but he will supply our
needs. What we have God only trusted us with and it all
belongs to him anyway. If we're his sheep, we will hear
and obey his voice. We will love and trust him. Verse 27
& 28 says, "My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and
they follow me: and I give them eternal life; and they
shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out
of my hand."
August is the end of our year for our Sunday School
agenda. Bro Bill Black, our Sunday School Superinten-
dent and Bro Keith recognized Perfect and almost perfect
attendance. There were several who had only missed five
or less Sundays (didn't get all their names) there were
quite a few. Those who hadn't missed a Sunday in a year
were: Lich Pilkington, Red Odom, Ronnie Kellar and

Why??? That is always the unanswerable question.
Especially when you consider that it comes at the tail
end of some murder.
Bro. Roy Platt
But there is something afoot that is even more tragic,
with more unanswerable motives, a darkness that doesn’t
compare with the two aforementioned tragedies. It is the
For whatever reason, a guy has a beef about his pre-
vious employer, who just fired him because of personal
unsolved anger issues, that he decides to take out a 24
year old reporter lady and her cameraman and a 4th party
lady who was just being interviewed with 15 shots from
a Glock pistol ... on LIVE TV for crying out loud. Mil-
lions saw the crime as it unfolded on TV. After a small
chase the guy does himself in. Uncontrolled anger does
that sometimes.
The reporter just turned 24 a week earlier and was just
living life as well as her cameraman (who was also killed
) who was described as happy, helpful, a joy to be around.
The lady being interviewed survived. Why???.......We’ll
never know.
Why??? I mean he was there just pumping gas in his
patrol car. There were no yells for ‘HELP’... he wasn’t
arresting anybody... he wasn’t writing a ticket for speed-
ing or illegal parking... he wasn’t badgering anybody...
he was just pumping gas. Then, some ignorant dude,
evidently pumped up with hatred for this anonymous guy
wearing a sheriffs badge... walks up behind the man and
shoots him point blank in the head and then empties the
gun and walks away. He gets caught after his mother
snitches on him. Why? Why? Why?... It’s a hard pill
to swallow for most of us I know.
My heart goes out to these individuals and their fami-
lies whose family members were gunned down by people
who took on Satan’s agenda... “steal, kill, and destroy.”
Senseless. Blind dumbness. Hatred in its fullest
expression. Irrational upon irrational. Ignorance upon
ignorance. These kinds of criminals make stupidity look
like Einstein.
industrialized conveyor belt killing of unborn children

PROFIT via Planned Parenthood (which is an oxymoron
if I ever heard one. PP’s euphemistic mission state-
ment: Let’s UN-plan your pregnancy so that you can
be an UN-parent). To hear the “over wine and lunch”
negotiations of pricing for a head, a heart, a leg, a lung...
plays right into the corporate mission statement of Hell
Incorporated, LLC (a limited liability corporation)... “to
kill, steal, and destroy by any means necessary with no
regard to the innocence of the recipient of such action.”
Planned Parenthood’s attempt to salve their conscience
of murder has adopted a ‘duck blind’ strategy by hiding
behind a ‘more noble’ cause... “We are for women’s
health. We offer many more services other than abor-
tions.” REALLY? Who isn’t FOR healthy women???
It is the height of arrogance to say if you are against us
doing ‘necessary’ abortions then you are against women’s
health. Excuse me...joyfully selling baby parts to the
highest bidder has nothing to do with women’s health
and everything to do with the “love of money that is
the root of all evil.” And to hear some know it all politi-
cian’s defense of Planned Parenthood, “no tax dollars
are used for abortion” does not sit well with a segment
of the population that asks, “Do I look that dumb?” It’s
federal tax dollars (your money and mine) that paid for
the buildings (or a major portion thereof) in which said
“un-parenting” takes place.
Sometimes it’s extremely hard to say the Pledge of
Allegiance.
