Accident Report
Rural traffic deaths increased
rapidly in the Northeast Texas
Highway Patrol District in March
as compared with the sam**
month in 1954. Twelve people
were rural traffic victims in
March this year; whereas, five
ware killed last year.

County caused an economic loss
of $2,543.00 with none killed and
isur injured in March. The fol-
lowing breakdown of accidents

Captain Warner stated that
traffic deaths have decreased

Phi Theta Kappa is in the field
of junior colleges what Phi Beta
Kappa is to senior colleges. In
order to be eligible for member-
ship a student must have a 2.5
average, (which is a B plus) he
must be carrying 15 hours. To
maintain his membership he
must carry 15 hours each semes-
ter and maintain a grade point
ratio of not less than 2.
Graduating frim Bogata High
School last May as valedictorian
of his class with an average of
94.2, Holder was an outstanding
athlete with four years of foot-
ball and three in basketball A
member of the FFA, he partici-
pated in cattle judging. Chosen
class favorite in his Junior year,
he appeared in the class play. As

Rosalie Friendship Club met
Tuesday with Iva Thompson and
Mrs. Joe Ragsdill, co-hostesses.
They enjoyed a covered dish
luncheon in the Thompson home
and finished one quilt.
During the business session,
plans were discussed concerning
the financing of the community
center project.
Six visitors, Phyllis Stewart,
Mmes. Mattie Bell. Tilda Clipper.
Lee Mauldin, Gaddis Mauldin,
Herschel Powers, were present,
as were the following club mem-
bers: Mmes. Herbert Lowry,
Bud Mauldin, Allen Watkins

Ida Williams, Minnie Bell, Babe
Gibson, Wince McKinney Cullen

Mrs. Jim Isbell at Clarksville.
Mrs. Troy Grant, in Spring-
field, Va., visiting her daughter,

for two weeks, arrives home on

Miss Norma Bell returned home
Friday from Detroit, where she
had been several days visiting

Foundation is being laid for

Doyle Whitaker in East Deport.
The new structure will have four
rooms, bath and carport.
Murray Latham, a former resi-
dent of this section, is improving
after suffering a heart attack
about a month ago. He is able
to be up a little while at a time

Leo Miller underwent an oper-
ation last Friday at a Mt. Pleas-
ant hospital. His many Talco
friends wish for him a speedy re
covery.
Mrs. O. F. Stevenson fell in the
hall of her home a few days ago
and sprained her ankle. She has
been confined to her bed for sev-
eral days
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Simmons
and his mother, Mrs. Jessie Sim-
mons of Bogata, spent Sunday
with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Simmons of Boswell, Ok.
Mrs. Floyd Cato of Black Oak,
Ark., visited her mother and sis-
ter, Mrs. F. A Jones Sr. and
Mrs. O. P. Hopwood. Mr. Jones
Sr. suffered a slight stroke the
past week.

named Linda Lee. Grandparents

was speaker in Detroit at the
monthly Brotherhood meeting at

Pvt. Bruce Stribling, who has
been in Korea on Army duty,
reached home Thursday for a 30-
day visit before going to Camp
Wolters at Mineral Wells.
W. S. Ramsey who has been
patient at a Paris hospital for
surgical treatment, is at home
and improving.
Mrs. E. I. Faucett has gone to
Houston to visit her son, Royce
Faucett and family, including
her new grandson, born last
week.
E. I. Faucett visited his son in
Grand Prairie last week.
Mrs. G. C. Trout of Dallas, the
former Miss Gertrude Sharpe,
was a recent guest of Mrs. G. M.
Sharpe.
Ken Edward is the name of a
son born April 15 to Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Castleman in Red River
County Hospital at Clarksville.
Dick Walker, program chair-
man for the Lions Club, present-
ed Ralph Turner, who showed a
film entitled "Missile Man,
showing the launching of guided
missiles by U. S. Air Force and
the training of the men for this
duty.
