Weeks has been the scene of
most active operations. Test
wellg are going down in pretty
well every*part of the county,
particularly in the section just
across from the gushers in the
Burkburnett field. Two months
ago land leases were slow at
$150 to .$200 an acre at the
most desirable points' near the
river. In fiv$ weeks time pric-
es advanced to $800 to $1000
per acre and as this is written
higher prices are being asked
and will no doubt be paid.
Should one of the test wells
strike pay oil, advances will go
sky-ward, and the field of op-
erations will be largely remov-
ed to Tillman county, for, it is
reasoned, if the pool extends
across the river it does not stop
in a stone's throw. Prices of
leases will advance all over
the county. Geologists have
contended for some years that

well started anew the interest

panies sending itheir scouts

county is being watched closely
