Article Three.
The fifteenth session of the Conference was held at
Chappell Hill, and met Dec. 13th, 1854, with Bishop Early
presiding. Homer S. Thrall was elected secretary. Ten
men were admitted on trial, namely: Fredrick Vordenbau-
men, John W. Cope, Jas. W. Points, T. B. Buckingham,
August Engel, Chas. L. Spencer, Gustavus Elly, John R.
White, John C. Kopp, Anthony Warns. The following
were re-admitted, all in elders' orders; James McLeod,
Robt. L.Drake, G. W. Cottingham and Andrew Davis.
Pleasant M. Yell, Wm. G. Foot, J. W. Ledbetter and
Wm. L. Kidd, located.
Garrett L. Patton died. He was a native of Tennes-
see, admitted on trial into the Tennessee Conference at its
session of 1842-3, and was transferred to the Alabama
Conference. He was transferred to the Texas Conference
two years previous to his death, and served one year on the
Springfield District, and this past year on Galveston Station
where he died. His last sermon was on "The Special
Providence of God," the following week he was stricken
down and died in great peace, commending his family to
