Jack and Mary Williams were fun than some of you may think,
down near Desdemona a few days
ago visiting a daughter and her
family.
Jack wanted to go dove hunt-
‘ ing and he and a granddaughter
(this one is a first grader) rode
away in a pickup. They were
- back in a pasture and there was
a nice pond of water.
Granddaughter wanted to . . .
oh well ... she wanted to fish.
Grandpa rigged up a rod and
reel for her, swatted a fat grass-
hopper, baited her hook, left her
on the bank, and went looking for
doves. In a few minutes Grand-
daughter yelled for Grandpa.
Jack looked and there was his
little one playing tug of war.
She’d step back and pull op her
rod hard as she could, then she’d
have to give up a bit and be
pulled toward the water. She
wanted and needed help.
After strong arms took over
it was only a bit until a 5V2-
pound black bass was safely out
of the water.
Granddaughter caught three
Jfmore pretty fish and Grandpa...
he got two little doves.

TRUE AND BLUE
Dear Helen:
I am 19 and my boy friend is
20. I know we aren’t ready for
marriage yet — we both should
grow up a bit more, but we’re
going steady and sort of pre-
engaged.
Now he’s going in the Navy,
and he says I shouldn’t sit home
and wait for him. He says he
still feels the same about me,
but it isn’t fair to ask me to
go steady long-distance.
I insist that it won’t really be
a hardship as I don’t want to
date other boys. I’ll keep busy,
and I have lots of girl frierids,
besides some married friends I
can visit. Sure Til be blue some-
times, but I’d feel a lot worse
going out with other fellows.
When I tell him this he says
I’ll change and we might as well
face it now. He says he feels
awful about leaving me along
and hates to think of me being
unhappy. Where he’s probably
going, there won’t be much op-
portunity for HIM to date!
Should I give in and call off
our steadyship; tell him I will
keep on being true to him any-
way; or insist that I know my
