This weeks Cook's Corner is fea-
turing another bunch of kids! This
trio of sisters is from Detroit and they
all three won blue ribbons at their
Red River 4-H County Food Show in
December. Lisa made Strawberry
Salad; Dori prepared a Custard Pie
and Robbie made Dee's Jerky Mari-
nate.
Not only do the girls have to know
how to prepare the dish, but they go
intp an extensive interview, where
they must know the nutrients,
various ways to change the recipe
and make the dish healthy, proper
serving techniques and other aspects
of the project.
They are Lisa, Dori and Robbie
Somerville and arc the daughters of
Tim and Marcelle Somerville. All
are members of the Midway 4-H
Club in Red River County and the
Martin Memorial Methodist Church.
Lisa is a 5th grade student at
Detroit Elementary and serves on
the Peer Mediation Team and plays
Little Dribbler's Basketball. She also
enjoys reading, playing the piano
and traveling. She has been a 4-H
member for 3 years and is currently
serving as secretary of her club. Her
4-H projects include Clothing, and
Beef, along with her Food project.
She raises and shows registered
Polled Herefords throughout the
year.
Dori is a third grader at Detroit
Elementary and she enjoys reading
and collecting dolls. This is Dori's
first year as a 4-H'er. She was
involved with the Clover Kids for
three years prior, Her projects
include Food, Clothing and showing
registered Polled Herefords.
Robbie is an 8th grader at Detroit
Middle School and she is president
of the Middle School Council and a
member of the Middle School Bas-
ketball team. She also enjoys reading
and traveling. Robbie has been a 4-
H member for 5 years and is cur-
rently serving as junior vice-presi-
dent. Her projects, along with Foods,
includes Clothing, Livestock Judg-
ing and showing registed Polled
Herefords all through the year.
Tim and Marcelle are to be com-
mended for raising three outstanding
children and keeping them involved
in various activities. I know from
experience that a lot of effort, time
and energy goes into traveling and
getting everyone at the right place at
the right time. Great job!
