Visitors this week of Ruby Chandler
were Martha Hill of Paris on Thurs-
day, Altha Lewis, Jeraldine Graves
and daughter Shelia Gordort and her
daughter, Cara of Rowlett on Satur-
day and Fay Gandy on Sunday. '
Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Kerbow had
lunch at the Dinner Bell Saturday,
June 20, celebrating their 61st wed-
ding anniversary and father’s day.
Friday night, Mr. and Mrs. Travis
King, Mr. and Mrs. Worth Baker,
Stella Ridens and Ethel Epps enjoyed
eating at Ervin’s Barbeque and play-
ing 42 afterwards.
Mr. and Mrs. Duane King of Paris
had supper with Mr. and Mrs. Travis
King.
Mr. and Mrs. Travis King had din-
ner Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Ran-
dy Osbum in Paris.
Visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Gandy were Megan Atterberry of
Bedford, Linda Embrey, Melissa
Rodgers and Worth Baker.
Vernon Lee Embrey of Lewisville
was a visitor of Mr. and Mrs. Rene
Embrey of Deport and other
relatives. He came to Pat Mayse
Lake to do some bass fishing, but
didn’t get to, due to the spraying of the
lake. He made the news in Dallas
Times Herald last week for catching
a five pound bass.
Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ward of Pott-
sboro and their daughter, Pat, attend-
ed the homecoming here. Also, Mr.
and Mrs. Bill Reddell of Mirieral
Wells, Jackie Kenner of Odessa and
Porter Ridens of Dentpn were there.
They all were visitors of Mrs. Stella
Ridens.
Mrs. Jack Kenner, Mrs. Bill Red-
dell, Wren Ward and Stella Ridens en-
joyed a day and night visiting places
of interest in Jefferson.
Sam Embrey who has been very ill
in McCuistion Medical Center went
home Wednesday and is greatly
improved.
Mr. and Mrs. Gene Jarecki,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
Gandy, will leave Wednesday for
Charlotte, NC to get Gene’s son,
Jeremiah to spend the summer with
them. The Gandy’s other daughter,
Mr. and Mrs. Chuck Gamer of Dallas
are on vacation in the hill country this
weekend.
Benita Schupp and daughters,
Trista and Tiffany, Shane Tollison
and the Regan Bell children have
been attending Bible school in Bogata
this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Atterberry and
Megan of Bedford came Friday to
leave Megan with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Embrey, while they
and a couple of friends attend the
horse races in Louisiana. Megan
stayed until Sunday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Gandy went
to Ervin’s Barbeque for lunch Satur-
day and on to Kiamichi Ouachita
Festival at Beaver’s Bend State Park.
Marty Haggard and several other
entertainers were there.

Edna Murphy Dies
June 13
An Investment
Mrs. Edna Francis Murphy of
Houston, formerly of Deport, died in
Houston on June 13.
Memorial services were held June
16 at' Pat Foley Funeral Home in
Houston with burial in Highland
Cemetery in Deport.
Mrs. Murphy was born August 8,
1906 in Deport, a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Jim McGill. She was married to
Charlie Murphy, who died in May of
1965
She was the mother of Charlene
Canady and Cheerie Galik of Houston
and Ruth Nell Brady of Bisbee, AZ.
She is also survived by one sister,
Jewel Carter of Port Arthur and one
brother, Gus W McGill of Louisiana;
nine grandchildren; eight great-
grandchildren and two great-great-
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a
daughter, Nikita A. Capps.
