Gertrude Tidwell
Dies At Age 89
Gertrude Tidwell of Deport died
Tuesday, January 28 at McCuistion
Regional Medical Center
Services were held Thursday,
January 30 at 2 p.m. at the Grant
Funeral Home Chapel with Aden Pet-
ty officiating. Burial was in Highland
Cemetery.
Mrs. Tidwell was born Sept. 1,1896
in the Glory community, a daughter
of W.S. and Josie Yancey Cheatham.
She married George Johnson who
died in 1925. She married J. Ben
Tidwell in 1928. He died in 1975. She
was a Church of Christ member.
Surviving are four sons, Loyd
Tidwell of Villa Platte, LA, Norman
Tidwell of Euless, Earnest and Her-
man Johnson, both of Deport; one
stepson, Hershel Tidwell of Summit,
MS; three daughters, Mrs. A1 (Mary)
Parks of Deport, Cora Braly and
Ruby Dean Wright, both of Euless;
five stepdaughters, Margaret Martin
of DeSotd, Helen Fleming of
Burkburnett, Imogene Wilson of
Paris, Lelia Westbrook and Estelle
Cheshir, both of Deport; three
brothers, Curtis and Russell
Cheatham of Deport and Leonard
Cheatham fo California; 16 grand-
children; 11 great-grandchildren and
three great-great-grandchildren; 19
step-grandchildren; 41 step great-
grandchildren and one step great-
great-grandchild. She was preceded
in death by a son, Virgil Tidwell.

sorry to hear of the death of Jewel J.
SMith of Paris. He drove the bus for
the Cunningham school for several
years. Sympathy is extended to his
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith met Mrs.
Viola Humphrey of Bogata at the
hoem of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Wilson
of Pattonville Sunday afternoon for a
visit.
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Devlin of
Grand Prairie visited with Mr. and
Mrs. Roy Powers Sunday.
Riley Lynn of Jasper spent Thurs-
day night with Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Chipman.
Mrs. Willie J. Fowler visited with
Mrs. Johnnie Warren in the Deport
Nursing Home Wednesday.
Brenda Burleson and son Blake and
Maxine Wells of Duncanville were re-
cent visitors of Ruby Clement and
Lisa.
Mrs. Virginia Norwood of
Clarksville spent Thursday with Mrs.
Aimer Norwood.

Halite C. Williams
Dies At Age 86
Hallie C. Williams of Paris died at
9 a.m. Thursday, January 30 at St.
Joseph’s Hospital.
Services were held at 4 p.m; Fri-
day, January 31 in Fry and Gibbs
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Glynn Vickers, pastor of Calvary
United Methodist Church officiating.
Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams was born February
26, 1899 in McMinnville, TN, a
daughter of Charley Cantrell and
Minnie Martin Cantrell. She married
Marvin R. Williams Dec. 6, 1931 in
Hugo, OK. He died Feb. 25,1977. She
was a member of Calvary United
Methodist Church and of its Bible
class.
Surviving are a brother, Elbert
Boren of Clardy, and a number of
nieces and nephews.

Bogata Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers were Gordon,
Carl, Dale House, former associate
pastors of Bro. Bond and men of the
John town Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by three sons, Jim-
my Dee Bond of Bogata, Howard
Bond of Texarkana and Floyd Bond
of Clarksville; one daughter, Sybil
Fay Robinson of Winnsboro; two half;
brothers, Joe Wheeler Bond of Broken
Bow, OK, Leander Bond of Odessa;
two half-sisters, Blanche English of
Odessa and Fairy Bond of Abilene; 16
grandchildren; 19 great-
grandchildren and three great-great-
grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death was
one son, R.Lee Bond and a grand-
daughter, Dorothy Ramona Bond,
three brothers and five sisters.
Bro. Bond was born March 29,1899
in the Cuthand community to Ander-
son and Sarah Bond. He lived in this
area almost all of his life after receiv-
ing a seventh grade education at
Cuthand School. He married Nellie J.
Hudson on Dec. 29,1918. She died Dec.
13, 1983.
During his 56 years as a minister,
Bro. Bond served churches mainly in
Red River and Bowie Counties, with
some time spent in Titus County. He
began attending the Red River
Association in 1922, his name is listed
ih the minutes of the Association as
-^ serving as clerk and he served as
clerk and treasurer of the Association
several times over the years.
In 1969 he was elected as Moderator
Emeritus and held that position at the
time of his death. Among the chur-
ches he served are Hopewell, New
Haven, Maple Creek, Turner’s Lake,
Concord, Post Oak, Liberty,
Johntown, Aik in Grove, Hodgson,
Hopewell (BowieCounty), Lydia, Old
Union and Maple Springs.
Talma C. Lamaster
Dies At Age 73
Talma C. Lamaster of Deport Nur-
sing Home died Saturday, February
1 at the Veterans Administration
Hospital in Bonham.
Graveside services were held at 2
p.m. Monday, February 3 at Woodard
Cemetery with Grant Funeral Home
in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Lamaster was born Nov. 14,
1912 in the Minter community, a son
of Will and Sudie Fisher Lamaster.
He was a retired carpenter.
Surviving are three sons, Truman
Earl Lamaster, William Thor^as
Lamaster and Tommy Lamaster, btt”
of Dallas; three daughters, Connie
Sue, Violet and Audrey Faye, all of
Dallas; four brothers, John Lamaster
of Detroit, Dean Lamaster of Bogata,

Lamaster of McKinney; three sisters,
Gertrude Flood of Oklahoma City,
Ruby Peterson of Fresno, California
and Helen Metheny of Houston.

Dies At Age 60

Hartley Franklin McCloud, age 60,
of Texarkana, Texas died Saturday,
February 1 after a lengthy illness in
a local hospital.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Mon-
day at Texarkana Funeral Home
Chapel, Rev. Larry Sims officiating.
Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial
Park.
Mr. McCloud was bom July 14,1925
in Pisbah, Alabama. He was a retired
United States Postal Service
employee and a veteran of World War
II.
He graduated from Bogata High
School.
Survivors include his wife, Louise
Solomon McCloud of Texarkana, TX;
two sons, Scott McCloud and Keith
McCloud, both of Texarkana; his
mother, Bertha Mae McCloud of
Dallas; one brother. Hansel McCloud
of Queen City; and one sister, Ruth
Ptyor of Dallas.
