In reply to this very unfounded and
biased statement we submit the following
written by Walter W. Sikc. of the local
faculty and printed in the July Bulletin
of Abilene Christian College:
"Three hundred year ago and more
a courageous group of sea-worn voy-
agers landed on Plymouth Rock and
entered upon the task of subduing a
new world.
Tho compact they signed read "For
the' glory of God and the advancement
of. tho Christian faith" etc. Here is
the motive which prompted the found-
ing of America. Our first congress de-
clared "Religion morality and know-
ledge being necessary to good govern-
ment school and tho mean of educa-
tion .hall be forever encouraged."
America first school were built
upon the Christian faith and for tho
promulgation pfjChristlan ideals.
aa m
awercd hi. own question by saying
"The Spaniard came in quest of Gold
while the Pilgrim Father came in
quest of God."
But the case i. different today. Re-'
'- ligion God and the Christian faith
' havo been excluded from every state
' school in America; Hindu philosophy
" Paganism and the science of war
'have been put into many. Of the
-' hundred of schools established to
rierpctuate Christian teaching most of
' them also have swerved asldo to de-
structive philosophies.
"Behold the triumph of the Prussian
schoolmaster 1" remarked von Moltke
a. he led the victorious host of Prus-
sian soldier into conquered Paris.
- What i. to be America end? Her
school will answer.
