A boy and girl so fair
She was not the least bit fat
And he had shining hair.
At one end of the couch was he
The girl was at the other
The boy was shy as shy could be
But she was like her brother.
Brazen and bold as some girls are
This modern ago and timo;
Al ho could say was "I declare
Ain't this weather fine?"
Nearer yet nearer to him she came
As tho to whisper in his ear
Some question very much inane
And then she said "Let's go to the
movies."

There's been quite a bit of excite-
ment around the campus for tho past
week but it has been suggested to
us that the matters do not como under
tho head of sports and far be it from
us to let a timely suggestion go un-
heeded. : : : Hints : : :
"And now tho track season is about
to start in full force. Coaches Wcems
and Morris aro giving tho members
of the squad plenty to do and plenty
to think about in preparation for tho
meets that are scheduled. Tho most
important thing on the coaches' minds
now is tho trip to Fort Worth for
Saturday's events.
I : : Work : : :
Eleven men will make the trip and
if tho Wildcats don't comejiomo with
a few honors tucked away we nre-due
for a great surprise. On the relay
team there are four of tho fasest
four-forty men in a Texas college or
university. Read these names aloud
and see how good they sound: Powell
Coalson Stevens nnd Clinch.
: : : Music : : :
But that is not all. Tho above lads
enter other events too; nnd Bynum
Vlckery Vaughn Livingston and
Travis aro almost sure to place in
each of their attempts. Several first
places and some second and third
places are pretty apt to float in our
direction." '
: : : Honors : : :
One of the greatest sports that we
ever took part in is attending n ban-
quet. At the Junior-Senior affair
Inst week our hearts were made to re-
joice from the splendid program and
the French cats that it was our good
luck to share. We'll never forget the
occasion and Dean Oox's speech "Tho
Last" will have a place in our mem-
ory always.
: : : Banquets : : :
The tennis men have repaired the
courts as much as possible and the
net team is fast rounding into shape.
The boat prospects to date aro Der-
rick Hill Moody Beasley and Liv-
ingston. And in our opinion this lad
Hubert Derrick is one of the stead-
iest and smoothest players that we
have seen in several cities.
: : : Racquets : : :
Well thero's no foolin' this time
we aro going to lay off for a few
weeks while the classes fight it out
among themselves Jn special editions
We are going to give Bessie another
chance and then close. Please bear
with us.
: : : Bessie : : :
Mr. Bullock was in tho hospital ex-
pected to recover but Bessie had re-
covered within the day. Which goes
to show tho advantage one has in be-
ing used to hardships and disasters.
Bessie was restless and wanted new
fields to conquer. Just then Mr. Con-
ley appeared from around tho corner
of the dormitory nnd Bessie made for
him like a puppy after its lost mama.
But alas Mr. Conlcy was nn old hand
at the game and knew his stuff. With
a cry of terror ho threw up his hands
and in the excitement the only thing
he took was his departure but that
was enough. Twenty minutes later
he was seen going across the campus
armed with two clubs a shot gun
and a sword. (Ladies beware.)

joyed a few stuffing moments to-
gether in the last meeting of tho
winter.
Engineer Colley is not expected to
return to this port in tho Spring so
a njw man was necessarily chosen to
fill Colley's place in the power room.
Lnwrenco Smith was chosen out of a
number of prospects as the best man
to bo placed at tho engine. Ho is
fully able to make the wheels go
around.
Colley will be greatly missed by the
crew who took him on board last fall.
There was never n more loyal man on
tho ship nnd he leaves hero full of
tin niH Vunktnn snirlt that makes a
Sub T man a permanent member of
the ever-growing family started muny
years ago by old Yunklns himself.
As a climax to tho meeting a largo
chocolate cake was brought in by tho
Skipper. It was a gift of Cook Ulys
Davis of tho 1027 crew.
