. One of the most deadly sins is gossip.
less. ' Boys and! girls. alike are guilty.
Out of ten persons you meet-on the street six or seven of them will
havc tlieir mouths open and their tongues working. -The most of this talk
is mere gossip. ' '
The saint of. old was right when he said our tongue is "An unruly evil
full of deadly-poison."- A'fcwunweighed words now and then can cause
jr "world 'of trouble.
. '1' Some .people think it is a mark of intelligence to be talking continu-.
ally ymto the contrary is true. If you are always gossiping the world
will soon find out how little you do know. Wise men arc usually men of
very few words and certainly they do not run around telling every little
insignificant talc they hear.
The Wisest Man said "Even a fool is counted wise when he holds his
peace." It is better to keep people guessing what you will say under ce'r-
'tain conditions than it is to say something on the spur of the moment
mat you will have to take back. If;you will keep quiet your friend will
tell you something new after a while. If you continue to run your chat-
ter box lie won't have an opportunity.
t If your next door neighbor did have a fuss what of it? Unless he
' calls for your assistance you had better keep quiet.
What if college sweethearts to break up? The love affair should not
bother you.
Suppose a student is sent home for not obeying the rules of the Col-
lege. The matter is none' of your business so quit gossiping.
Sqmc people are alwAys'- prating. The trouble is they do not say
anythingworthwhile. - )
'' Let us lcaxn the value of silence; U is often more eloquent than words.

WHAT'S YOUR RUSH?
Tliis has rightfully been called an age of speed and recklessness. Al
" most everyone we meet js in a hurry. We are' rushing madly through life
in search of tome elusive object that always ouiruns us. -'. ti
The modcml.bumem'anarise9pqxly.'boiiH.hiB breakfast andf.hurriea
to die store or office only to sit around and wait an hour or twojjfor the
y first customer or client to come. ) - ''
' VV'''J Joy riders' drive-" at a breakneck speed even when they arc .out for
E'leasure." 'They do not have any particular place' to go but they arc in. a
urry to get somewhere. '
.';' Summer tourists will drive sixty miles an hour in an effort to beat a
train to a crossing. Sometimes they will stop on the other side of the
' track and' watch the train pass. - '
1 Church members rush home from worship only to get in' their cars and
opeed away to another place. When they arrive there- the place may riot
'- bring happiness s6 they are in a hurry to get home again.
1 The house wife will often injure her health by doing something in an
hour that should require several hours. When she has finished the job
there is no place to go and nothing to do so worry begins.
' - Students begin looking at their "watches as soon as they enter a class
i room: Time seems a burden to them and they are usually in a hurry to
leave. Ad'soon as the bell rings they jump up and leave the room.
Where are they going? They do not always know; the idea is to get
moving. '
' ""Why all this speed?" is a question we should ask ourselves; It is
all right to hurry moderately provided we know where we are going; and
do "something when we get there.' Some people cut ten years off their
