Dracula expert to lecture
Radu Florescu will deliver a
lecture-film presentation entitled
"In Search of Dracula and
Frankenstein" on Saturday
Nov. 22 at 6 'p.m. in the
Woodward-Dellis Recital Hall at
Hardin-Simmons University.
Dr. Florescu a professor of
history at Boston College is an
authority on the historical
Dracula. He has written three
books which include. "In
Search of Dracula: A True

Miss Wlnnefred Walker (John Walker) of the Kinsmen Social Club
won the "Find a Wife for He" contest. The "Prickly Pear"
yearbook staff and Students' Association co-sponsored the contest
which raised over $60 to "Christmas for Children." Herb Butrum to

Loggins wrote and recorded
"Please Come to Boston" on the
Epic record label. He has also
written "Pieces of April" which
was recorded by Three Dog
Night. Loggins is not to be
confused with Kenny Logigns
one-half of the Loggins and
Messina recording duo.
Dave Loggins was scheduled
to appear in Abilene last April
History of Dracula and the
Vampire Legends" "A Histori-
cal Biography of Vlad the
Impaler" and "In Search of
Frankenstein." Dr. Florescu has
appeared on the 'Tonight
Show" and "The Dick Cavett
Show."
Dr. Florescu was bom in
Wallachia Romania near
Dracula's Castle in tiie region of
Transylvania.
He has lectured to groups in
18 in a concert sponsored by the
Intercollegiate Council. The
show was cancelled after
confusion and misunderstanding
arose among the three Abilene
colleges.
A spokesman for Hardin-
Simmons University said the
H-SU student senate had not
taken any official action prior to
the announcement of the
concert. A McMurry College
representative implied that his
school had never made a
financial commitment.

Scholar and recipient of the
Dimitrie Cantemir Medal of
Honor given by the Robanian
ambassador to the United States.
The lecture is being sponsored
by the Moody Center Program
Committee of H-SU and is being

at H-SU.
Admission will be free.
Statewide home ec workshop

ACC will play the host Nov.
20-22 when about 400 students
will converge at the Abilene
Civic Center for the Texas
Home Economics Student Sec-
tion (THESS) Workshop.
Theme for the workshop is
"Don't Fence Me In." Cheryl
Thompson senior home
economics major from Oildale
Calif. and vice president of
THESS for the 1975-76 school
year said the theme emphasizes
the "opennes" of the West and
die idea of not limiting one's
potential.
Several exhibitors from major
companies and speakers from
across the country will highlight
the activities. A special feature
will be the selection of the five
Texas home economists of the
year.
The workshop will be
climaxed by a Hilltoppers con-
cert which will be open to the
public.
A reception in the Civic
Center foyer Thursday will kick
off the event. Members of the

On Friday William Banow-
sky president of Pepperdine
University will speak at the
general session at 9 a.m.
During the day members will
attend three of the 12 mini-
labs or discussion groups set
up in the Civic Center. The
mini-lab a new concept in the
workshop according to Miss
Thompson helps "people . . .
get involved doing what the
lecture teaches."
Some of the topics for the
mini-labs lead by professionals
in their field include: oil seed
products as food sources train-
ing the family in ESP (not
extrasensory perception) tech-
niques for making food look
delicious for professional photo-
graphy and fashion merchandiz-
ing. ' ESP is a secret subject the
speaker will discuss.
Also on Friday a luncheon
announcing the five home
economists of the year will be
held in their honor. Dr. Mattle
B. Medford president of the

ation will speak.
At 6:30 p.m. that same day
a country and western dinner

Economics department will fol-
low the dinner. .
Saturday at 7: JO a.m. mem-
bers will meet for a business
meeting and election of new
officers. The officers will be
installed at a general session
following the meeting. Dr.
Robert D. Hunter vice presi-
dent of ACC will speak at this
final session.
Osborn is a 1969 ACC grad-
uate. He began at Saks in the
same year as assistant buyer and
his present duties include travel-
ing in Europe as well as the
United States for all 30 Saks
stores. His topic will be "Saks
Comes to Texas."
Registration fee is $5 for
THESS members and 56 for
non-members.
