Count your blessings
understood is rare. And to have that friend
understand and be patient as we encourage
each other in our goals for Christ is almost
unbelievable.
11. All the "necessary comforts." I've
grown so accustomed to having everything I
could ever need or want that I forget just
where they come from. To have a warm bed at
night enough food enough clothing for two
art music recreation and even school. So
many things that we call "basics" are not at
all.
12. The less obvious blessings that we don't
think about everyday. Things I often forget
until I remember being in a country where the
military rule scared me to death or sitting
down and talking with someone who has
severe deformities or handicaps or seeing an
illiterate child trying to learn. They made me
think.
13.The chance to be me. Amidst all the
struggles and confusion there is joy because
of a chance to be what God wants me to be.
This by no means is a complete list of the
blessings I have. But I must close it with a
confession. When I sat down to write this I
thought I could do it quickly meet my
deadline and go home. Wrong.
It's hard to sit down and think of everything
that God has given me but even harder to
admit I hadn't been thankful for many of
them. Thinking realizing and appreciating
more of my blessings will make this
Thanksgiving mean more than turkey and
Mom's broccoli casserole it will mean
heartfelt thanks to the source of all good
things.
