Brady Ex Succeeds
Holland in Kingsville
Donald R. Jay. first assistant
coach nt Kingsville High School
since 1950, waa elevated last week
to the head coaching job, laft
vacant by the retirement of Coach
Russ Holland.
Like Holland, Jay is “an old
Rrady boy," having graduated
from Brady High in 1947. The
Kingsville staff, in fact, is lousy
wito Mrady exes. Heeelier Huff,
one of Hrady's gridiron great*

Holland will continue at

Hit. W. M. LAND
'Country Doctor
Dies at Lohn Home
Dr. W. M Istnd, a "country
doctor" at I/>hn for almost 50
years, died nt 11:30 a. m. Sunday
at his home, a mile east of Lohn.
He was HU.
Funeral services were held at
I p. m. Monday at Wilkeraon
Chapel, Hrady. with burial in the
Ixdui Cemetery.
Dr. (.and served some families
at Lohn aa their family physician
through three generations, and
many remember going to him
during their childhood. He would
leward them with a stick of prp-
permerit candy “If they were
good."

school in Birmingham. Ala., in
Chattanooga, Tenn., and had
two term* at Tnlane Uni-
versity, New Orlean*. I.s.

him to answer a rail.

During a flu epidemic of
191H Dr. Land waa busy day
and night and had to send
medicine to many patients
whom he couldn't get around
to see.
For many years Dr I .and owned
a drug store in connection with
his office in Ixihn, the store being
operated by his business partner,
the late Miaa Myrtle Necessary.
Dr Land retired from prartire
in 1955.
His survivors are hia wife; five
ot a, Henry of Mrady, Ernest 'if
Waco, Carroll of Sim Angelo, Or
vil of Lohn, and Orori Land of
Waco; and two daughters, Mrs
Mae Hi*ni It of l.ohn and Mrs.
C|e*i Jackson of Dayton, Tex.
Also surviving are • brother.
