Beasley—Scott
Oue of the most brilliant scenes'
in the social history of the city
was witnessed on yesterday even-
ing in the marriage at the Presby-
terian church, of Miss Lillian
Scott and Mr. John R. Beasley,
the city's popular young mayor.
Long before the hour appointed for
the ceremony, the churth was
crowded to overflowing, and by the
time the bridal party arrived, not
even standing room was available.

The publishers of the Youth’s
Companion will, as always at this
season, present to every subscriber

which suggests the title, “Vene-
tian,” for the Calendar was painted
by the famous marine artist, Thom-
as Moran. His Venetian scene, re-
produced in the calendar by thir-
teen-color lithography, will be
found well worth preserving, long
after 1910 is gone by.
Eugene Padron, an old Mexican
who at one time lived on the Ben-
set ranch and was well liked by all
who knew him, died in this city
