A&M Extension Service Club Selects
Mrs. Earl Rudder ‘Mother of the Year’
Friends of Mrs. Earl Rudder
of College Station, formerly of
Rrady, will be glad to hear that
she had the honor of having
been selected as Mother of the
Year by her Extension Service
Club.
Mrs. Rudder is the mother of
five children, ranging from col-
lege age to the first grade They
are James Earl ("Bud") 20; Anne.
18. Linda, 13; Jnne, 12: and Rob,
6. At one time *he wan n member
of four Parent-Teacher Associa-
tions.
“Everyday of our lives, mother
lias constantly chosen to con-
► ider our needs and Interests a-
hove her own.” her children de-
clare. "Mother has been a guide,
example and Inspiration to our
•■mire family.”
In her current role as First
Lady of the A A M campus, Mrs.
Rudder approaches each full day
with carefully laid plans. Many
College events, such as football
season when guests are frequent
and military weekends when
numerous officials visit the cam*
pus she performs her duties with
graciousness and pride.
Aggies voice their affection
for Mrs Rudder fur and wide
saying. "Mrs. Rudder is an un-
usual woman, a wonderful mo-
ther. and well deserving of the
honor of being Mother of the
Year."

Members of four Hrady 4-H
Clubs held their “Favorite Foods
! Show” Saturday ut |(! at the Poy
Scout I/odge.
'1 here were two divisions, in-
dividual and group. In the group
division were Lou Donna (Juice
anil Vickie Fowler. They exhibited
an apple celery sulad and u but
tei scotch pudding.
In the individual group the girls
exhibiting wefe I’uin Francks,
pudding; Sheryl Johnson, Rag-
gedy Ann sulud; Susan ( usenbary,
humdinger; Karen Purk, peanut
butter cookies, Reeky Hurk, apple
celery salad; Cissy (iault, peach
delight; Linda (lihgon, peanut
butter fudge; Susan Ethridge, pea-
nut butter cookies; Jennie Cris-
well, fudge; (iayle Hubbard,
fudge; Joyce Mursden, fudge;
I’etli Lee Wigginton, peach de-
light; Peggy Smithwiok, meat
salad; Sandra Brock, banana pud-
ding; Kevu Hargrove, meat salad;
Carol Kicks, fruit salad; Pamela
Guice, pudding; Linda Simpson,
peanut butter cookies.
1 he girls were judged on their
understanding of the food exhibit-
ed, personal appearance, quality,
flavor, and nppeuaancw of the
foods and appropriate table set-
ting. Mrs. Novis Williams was
judge.
Approximately fifty-four guests
registeied and were served coffee,
hot chocolate Hnd cookies.

‘Dashing Deb’
Miss Kay Heath, daughter of
Mr and Mrs Woodrow Heath,
former residents of Hrady but
now of Garland, was recently
selected one of 20 girls in try-
outs for the “Dashing Delis" of
Garland High School.
Tile girls were judged on rou-
tine. marching. twirling. and
showmanship, as well as grades,

Sunshine Club Meets
With Mrs. Geo. Reed
The Wuldrtp Sunshine Club
met In the home of Mrs. George
Reed Feb. 22. with Mrs. M W.
Holland as co-hostess.
Mrs. R. E. Briscoe led the
group in singing “The Lilly of
the Valley" and Mrs. Emma
Powell led the Lord s Prayer.
Mrs. Aaron Bray gave the de-
votional taken from Isaiah,
chapter 56.
Mrs Wayne Bray. president,
presided at the business meeting
when 1C members answered roll
cull by describing their favorite
Valentine received when young-
sters.
Committees were appointed for
this year and a donation made to
the march of dimes. After the
business session, several qnir-
games were played, conducted by
Mrs M W. Holland.

The Melvin 4-H Club held
their regular meeting, Feb. 22

for tbo County Favorite Food
show in Hrady, and planned for
the uwurdN contest. For the
program, posters to be displayed
during 4-H Week. March 6-10
