Homecoming mall carnival to be 'old-fashioned

This year's Homecoming mall car-
nival will take the shape of an old-
fashioned town with store fronts to
carry out the theme ''Let's" Have an
Qld-Fashioncd Homecoming."
Fifteen groups will operate carnival
booths Saturday from 9 a.m.-l p.m.
said Michelle Batson Student Foun-
dation carnival coordinator.
The Student Foundation will sponsor
the carnival for the second year.
The old-fashioned town front will
house five booths said Kent Smith
sophomore business computer science
major from San Angelo and chairman

the town's ice cream parlor And Sigma
Thcta Chi will manage a candy store
booth in the general store.
Mission Outreach will have a calf-
roping booth in the town stable. Larry
Conway Mission Outreach leader and
senior Bible major from Odessa said a
cow head will be mounted on a
sawhorsc or something similar to
represent the cow. Participants will
rope the "cow" from a distance he
said. Two "cows" will be available
one for kids and "one for the real
cowboys" ho said..

said Smith. The group will sell carnival
tickets for 25 cents each for use at the
booths with each booth requiring a
different number of tickets for partici-
pation said Batson.
Other participating groups must
construct their own booths said Bat-
son. Some of these groups arc the
freshman class which will operate a
ring toss booth; Kinsmen a shoot-out
booth; and Phi Delta Psl a cow chip
throwing contest. Abo Cultural Ex-
cellcncc Organization will sell
decorative balloons and Delta Thcta
Will sell flowers.
The New Masters the art club will
sponsor a drawing Jboolh BatsOn said.

Several musical groups will entertain
during the Homecoming barbecue
Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to l p.m. said

senior from Wichita Falls
The cost of the barbecue Is $3.50 and
tickets will be available at the
Homecoming booth said Dcwby nay
director of alumni reunions. Students can
use their meal tickets said Mrs. Ray
Professional Food Management will
cater the barbecue she said. The food will
be served In the Bean and then taken to the
campus mall area.
Three groups will perform at half-hour
Intervals while food Is served said

tertainment will represent an old-
fashioned variety show he said.

sing songs from the 1940s.

special education major from Temple;

submitted ideas that were duplicated
by other organizations and arc in the

money will receive a monetary award
said Batson. The Student Foundation
will determine the amount of the prizes

The groups can keep 75 percent of
their gross sales said Batson. Student

ceptional Recognition Award Saturday

Members of the class of 1957 will lead the
Chapel devotional which will begin at 9:30
a.m. said Curtis. The devotional will in-
clude singing with scripture reading
because "exes love to sing when they come
back for Homecoming" he said.
After the devotional President William
J. Teague will extend a welcome to those
attending Homecoming said Curtis.
Gene Stallings vice president of the
parent's association will express sen-
timents for the parents after Tcague's
welcome said Curtis.

Conroc will Introduce the SA officers.
Homecoming Queen nominees and the
Coming Home Court said Curtis.
Dean Owen Alumni Association
president then will present the award to
