Sigma Tau Epsilon to honor Hunter others
The Eta chapter of Sigma Tau Epsilon
Industrial Education organization at ACU
will honor two Abilene men and a former
Cooper High School teacher Saturday
during an 8:30 a.m. reception.
Ted Pemberton owner of Customer
Upholstery in Abilene and Rodger Poe of
Garland former Cooper High School
teacher will receive outstanding service
certificates. Dr. Robert D. Hunter vice
president of ACU will receive honorary
membership status In the club.
Awards will be presented Saturday
'during the group's Homecoming reception
at 8:30 a.m. In the Living Room of the
Campus Center Alumni and friends of the
department and the honorees are Invited
to attend the reception.
The service honor annually is given to
one or two alumni based on criteria
established by the national Sigma Tau
Epsilon organization. Those criteria in-
clude service to the club while a student
service to the department andor
university after graduation and out-
standing achievement and service in the
chosen profession.
Pemberton is a 1957 ACU graduate. In
addition to his upholstery business which
specializes In customized furniture he Is
the Inventor and manufacturer of the
"Sport Sled" sold throughout Texas and
other parts of the nation. For 14 years
Pemberton has taught upholstery at ACU
as a part-time Instructor in the industrial
education department.
Poe has worked for several years as a
draftsmandesigner of the Johnny Jen-
nings Designer firm. The 1979 ACU
graduate teaches photography and
drafting at Coyle Middle School in
Garland.
