Johnny Joe Boyd
KiUed in Crash
Johnny Joe Boyd, 30. of Hamlin
was killed last Wednesday when
a 30-ton Navy flying boat in
which he was serving aa a mem-
ber of the crew crashed and ex-
ploded In San Diego bay. The
ship contained 10 men, four offi-
cers and six enlisted men.
The giant plane developed en-
gine trouble during the take-
off and crashed immediately Into
the bay and exploded.
Boyd’s body was recovered
shortly after the craah. He la sur-
vived by his parents, two slttpra,
France* Boyd of HamHn. ‘ and
Mrs. Lon Wilson, Jr of Kermlt;
four brothers, R. A. who la sta-
tioned on Okinawa, Allen and
Raymond Neill of Hamlin; and
Wi-burn L. Boyd of Colorado
City; his paternal grandmother,
Mra. R. A. Boyd of Sylvester,
and J. T. Gann of Hamlin, his
fnatemal grandgather.

vacation trip where they viaited
relatives and friends in Oregon.
