The Financial Aid office has
taken on a new look this semester.a
"Strange" new look as Fran
Strange has taken over as the new
Director of Financial Aid for Har-din-Simmons
University.
Strange is excited about the
sizes that now more than ever
there is a ready availability of
financial aid including expanded
loan limits and reduced interest
rates.
Strange pointed out that even
at a state school the average cost
of attendance is $8600 a year. "I
believe HSU is worth the differ-

Board of Development learned
Friday that the school's Centen-
nial Campaign has reached more
than $22 million in pledges and
gifts toward a challenge goal of
$22.5 million.
HSU President Lanny Hall
outlined briefly plans to include
leadership studies at the univer-
sity and later received an
endorsement from the full board
for the program.
Optimism was expressed by
the president for the future of the
institution and recent enrollment
gains were highlighted.
"The Centennial Campaign at
HSU was launched in late 1988
and is now poised for a successful
conclusion as we enter the second
century of Christian higher edu-
cation" said Richard M. Styles
senior vice president for advance-
ment. The $ 1 5 million base goal was
reached earlier in the campaign
Styles reported.
"Renovation of campus facili-
ties is one of the final major needs
of the campaign" Styles said. In-
cluded in these renovations which
will total $3660000 are Moody
Student Center Behrens and
Lange women's dorms athletic
facilities the Van Ellis Theatre.thc
Western Heritage program and
overall campus beautification.
The university is within ap-

Strange says. "A large number of
students would not be able to at-
tend HSU without the help of fi-
nancial aid programs."
"Many parents want their kids
to attend a private school but they
look at the cost and it scares them"
