Life’s Story
By Rev. Dean Thompson
Psalms 90:9 — “For all our
days are passed away in thy
Wrath: We spend our years as a
tale that is told.” This verse
of scripture likened life to a
tale that is told. The Psalm was
composed by Nloses during the
forty years wandering in the
wilderness. There are long tales
and short, ones, so there are
long lives and there are short
ones. Of course we cannot
always measure life by years, as
we can measure a story by
pages or words. It is what we
put into life that counts, and
will decide the value of the life
lived. We find that it is the
things we do for others that
has any true meaning.
f Spme are dull tales, and
ther§;are very interesting ones,
so there are lives that are very
sober and unattractive; where
as there are lives full of change
and very exciting. Christ will
put a sparkle in any life that
He has complete control. To
let Christ live for us and in us is
more exciting than a trip to
the moon. There can never be a
dull moment in witnessing for
Christ and leading a soul to
Him.
There are bad tales and there
are good ones, so there are lives
that are really bad, exerting
evil influence, where as there
are lives that are a blessing to
all. If we aren’t leading
someone to Christ, then we are
leading them to hell. We have
only one life to live, shouldn’t
this one life be lived as useful
and helpful as possible?
REV. DEAN THOMPSON
There are tales that have a
glorious mission, where there
are others that are producing
nothing but evil; so this is true
of lives. We have many stories
or books written that aren’t fit
for our children to read. What
about this life we are living
before our clildren? Is it
producing evil or a glorious
mission?
There are three conditions
we must have in our life if we
are to be a good and beneficial
tale. First, we must have the
right Author. Man is a genius
to produce a really great tale,
one that will live on and on for
generations. So only Christ
Jesus can produce a life that is
a good, useful and helpful tale.
We have to be His
workmanship, for we cannot
do this ourselves. To become
good, useful and helpful we
must resign ourselves to His
gracious and creative skill.
Second, we must have the
right hero. Any book will
depend upon the quality of its
hero. If Christ is the pivot and
center of our lives then air is
well. Third, we must have the
Right Object. A book without
an object is weak and will
likely be flat and dull. What is
the object of your life, of my
life? Are we doing everything
for the Glory of God? Man’s
chief end is to glorify God.”
Everything we do is to be done
for Christ’s Glory not to have
the glory and praise of man.
Ask yourself the question,”
“What king of a tale is my life
telling?”
