m What We Eat.
Is intended to nourish and sustain
us. but it must be digested and assim
iloteiPWore it can do this. In other
words the noulshinant contained in
food must bo separated by the diges-
tive organs from the waste materials
and must be carried by the blood
to all parts of ths body. We believe
the reason for the great benefit which
so many people derive from Hood’s
Sarsaparilla lies in the fact that this
medicine gives good digestion and
makes pure, rich blood. It restores
the functions of those organs which
convert food into nourishment that
gives strength to nerves and muscles.
It also cures dispeosia. scrofula, salt
rheum, boils, sores, pimples and erup-
tions, catarrh, rheumatism and all
diseases that have their origiu in im-
pure blood.

to tlie farmer# of Ilia south’ Every-
thing bought with which io make it
was cheap, mules, fertilizers, labor,
plow tools, farming machinery, cot-
ton cloth, meat, corn and forage—in
fact, farm supplies of every descrip-
tion were exceeding cheap, and conse
quentiy the crop of 1899 came into
the tfiarket at a very low cost. Our
people made light billa,
•'Tlie cotton crop of 189V—1900 will
barely reach 9,000 000 bales, and the
averago orioe paid thus far lias been
7 cents, ao if we again reduce tlie me
of fertilisers and the acreage in cot-
ton, and produce only 8,000 000, we
may expect to get nut less than 9cts a
pound for our crop. But if the far-
mers go wild again, as they did in
1898—buy everything they can oil
time, plant the whole earth in cotton,
and make a crop of 11,500.000 bales,,
the country will he ruined, almost
beyond hope.
/Such n crop noxt season would sell
at from 4 1-2 to Sets a pound and
leave us hoplessly ill debt. It may
tidily be seen that an 8,000.000 bale
will bring more money than a
W.000 bale crop, to say nothing
of tlito cost of marketing and wliat we
lose by leaving off foodjerops. If we
can onfy induce our farmers to adopt
this mejkod, they will bo masters of
